I like to use irregardless when having vocabulary discussions. when I chose that word, I didn't choose it for any particular reason, but it does offer a good point. irregardless is a word because millions of people use it every day to mean 'regardless' so the dictionary picked it up. Very organic, just how the English language (or any other language should be).

Shooting Brake, on the other hand, once was a word that meant one specific thing, now it's used by marketing people to describe a type of car that has very little to do with the origin of the word. Not organic at all, IMO. Contrived, or synthetic are words I would use to describe Shooting Brake as it is used today.
