So I have a 13 wrx with 3500 miles and I can't make up my mind......
What I'm trying to decide is to go stg2 (downpipe, intake, access port) or new set of wheels..... Current mods are eibach pro plus kit, kartboy end links and invidia q300. I know it's all about what I want and my goals I'm just asking for opinions. They both will be one either way just what to do first. The wheels I have chosen are rpf1s if that makes any difference. Thanks

Only you know what your car needs improvements on. At first, I just wanted power, but now that I want to start doing time trials at a local racetrack I want handling. I'm stage 1 with an N1 catback right now. I also did a Cobb short shifter with both sets of bushings. My next move will be coilovers. And when I replace my tires next year ill pick up some enkei rpf1. My original plan was to go stage 2 pro tuned, but i feel that improving my handling will get me more bang for my buck right now. What's the point of more power if your car floats like a boat through corners.

^^^ Exactly. My buddies N/A 02 OBS spanks me in the corners (i.e. it's faster than my WRX was) due to all of his handling upgrades. Just some food for thought. As it stands my LGT with it little turbo is quicker in the twisties than the WRX was as well due to some beefy sways and bushing here and there.

Depends on your preferences. Do you want people to be impressed by the look of your car more or by the performance? I would personally do stage 2 first but with that low of miles and still have the warranty I'm not sure.

Power is nothing without power.
Unless you are Nigel Mansell, there is no reason to upgrade the suspension. That's my line if logic anyways as the most cornering I see is when I leave Home Depot with 6 bags of peat moss in the back. |

You will be happier with stage 2.

keep the wheels till the end. go stage 2 first because you will get bored with the stock power quickly.

Save yourself a couple hundred and leave off the intake. Otherwise without a budget we can't do much. Well that and it's your car and not ours, so YOU make the decision.

An intake/exhaust/bov etc will not VOID your warranty. A part can cause the warranty claim to be denied, but it is extremely rare that a part will VOID your warranty.

Wheels first. You already have aftermarket exhaust on the car. Just make sure stage 2 is right for you before you take ThaT big of a step in potentially murdering your nice '13.

Go for wheels. They're much lighter than stock and will make your car feel peppier. I went stage 2 and then some, but soon after I wish I did my handling first. Not that it matters anymore because I recently worked on suspension and wheels...

It doesn't matter how many times you repeat this, people will refuse to understand the distinct difference between voiding your warranty and having a warranty claim denied. I mean, just take a look at the post right beneath yours, haha.

Reading through all the posts seems equal lol. I know ill be happy with both I'm just mixed between the two. I know I only have 3500 miles but so I was leaning towards wheels just for look purposes. I bought the springs just for looks lol. I also work at a Subaru dealer so the warranty thing I might be able to get by with we will see. The big question really I guess was looks or performance. Since it is in all my dd

Chung Mee: Opium is my business. The bridge mean more traffic. More traffic mean more money. More money mean more power.
Lawrence Bourne III: Yeah, well, before I commit any of that to memory, would there be anything in this for me? Chung Mee: Speed is important in business. Time is money. Lawrence Bourne III: You said opium was money. Chung Mee: Money is Money. Lawrence Bourne III: Well then, what is time again? |

Though I would never attempt to argue with Unabomber, I am surprised by his answer. Power makes you faster in a straight line, sure.
My point (and my idea of 'faster) is you need to stick to the ground (springs, sways, bushing, lighter wheels, sticky tires, you get the drift). All the power in the world won't get a car around a track any faster if you can't keep 4 tires firmly planted to the ground. That being said, maybe you goal isn't to be able to get around a track quickly...? If it's just aesthetics, go with the wheels (if they're lighter than stock this will help in both of the following)---->. If you want blistering 0-60 #'s. Go power. If you wanna have more fun, go with more suspension upgrades. my humble .02 |
