I know somebody here has to be attending one or both of the races. I always see a Subaru or two in the parking lot each year and it would be a cool time to get together and watch some dirt racing. I know there's not many of you local to the area, but they pull cars from almost all 50 states. This year is a record turnout for the shooter, almost 900 pre entry's and about 1100-1200 cars expected

I won't be going This year,
I did however race in the chili bowl in 2011 was the first time I had ever 1- attended the week long race. 2- actually raced in it. Best experience of my life I highly recommend going to this at least once in your life. Definitely was not my subie you seen as I flew there from Utah... I was actually the only racer from oil Utah that year and got the opportunity to be in the flag ceremony. |

As stated above if you have never been before you must go! It is well worth the money and time off work... I got to race in it a few years ago and man was it fun! I have to say it was some of the best fun I've ever had at a race, we had some bad luck with the motor but even after that I came away with a smile just watching and helping friends. I can't wait to go again next year

Did you get sick with the chili bowl virus?!? Anyone who has never been make sure you frequently go out side for fresh air as it is a week long of indoor racing with hundreds of cars running generators cranked and old men smoking cigars. My whole group got sick. I was sick for like 3 weeks.

Ya the shootout flu was in full force this year. If you got out without it, you were lucky

I'd rather be at Hallett racing my RS.

Great video. You can see the back of my head around the 11:11 mark
![]() 2nd year in a row Autoweek sent me out to shoot that race. It was a lot of fun seeing the top NASCAR drivers racing against the weekend warriors and up and coming drivers. Great racing! I kept thinking how cool it would be to put a Subaru boxer in one of those cars. ![]() As soon as Kyle Larson quits crashing he will be the real deal. Autoweek Chili Bowl Article I'll get a link to some more photos soon. |

If it were possible to fit a boxer in a midget I would definitely rock one in my midget next time I race the chili bowl. There is no way you could get enough power either with out running a Turbo. The last time I raced there I ran with a v4 motor and it barley has enough room to fit.

The micros in the shootout are nothing to sneeze at either, 150 hp in a 650 pound car via 600 streetbike motor (cbr600, r6..) their enough to wheelie down the straightaway
