Depends if you wanna dd or a track car

If you're just looking for a dd the wrx is better for monetary reasons, plus you can dump the 10 grand you saved on the sti into the wrx and have some fun

Also went with a wrx because i didnt need the 300hp and spend the extra 10K, However the sdrive feature is pretty rad.

To me the biggest feature would be the 6spd, it doesn't blow up like the 5spd. Brembos are definitely cool to have but not necessary. Everything else like suspension and power can be upgraded on the WRX with like $2-4,000.

I got a WRX because I know what it's capable of and if i bought an STi I'd upgrade bunch of stuff anyways and end up with a 15mpg/ 400whp car, which I do not need.

Thanks guys think of going with a Wrx 10gs less and it has potential when those 10g can be spread all around and it's going to be a daily so Wrx it is then unless I could get a great deal on an Sti I will go Wrx

Id get an sti if I had the money. New brembos and a six speed with warranty is with it. Depends on driving style I guess. You can probably still romp on a Wrx just as hard as an sti

You will just regret it if you don't have the Sti.

If you can afford it get the Sti. But if u dint buy your 06 new then I see why u consider the wrx

The black brakes are indeed still Brembo brakes. They are a huge improvement over the WRX brakes.

The transmission is also a huge improvement over the WRX. The WRX transmission can hold about 300-350 WTQ safely. If you want any more than that, you'll need an STI transmission.

The WRX top mount intercooler separates at about 18 PSI of boost. Typically a stage 2 setup with around 300 WHP will run 20-21 PSI. A good new intercooler will set you back $1000+

If you don't modify the car and make more power, the WRX is a great value. However, if you plan on making more power, an STI might be the best choice for you. I find that many people end up spending more money on a WRX just to fix its shortcomings. An STI will also have better resale value in the future. Many things to consider there, but you can never go wrong with a Subie! Good luck with your purchase!

Get the STI. For the 6mt, dccd, r180 diff, 5x114 hubs/wheels, brembo's, cluster, interior, suspension, much better TMIC, steering rack, etc... It's a better deal in the end.

Good post. Did they go back to r180? From what I recall the 07 were r160. I'm sure the axles are even stronger as always. I don't research beyond bug-i any more lol

Go shift the WRX and you'll immediately want to go back to the STI. I would pay 10k if all the STI had over the WRX was the 6spd.

I own both an STI and a WRX and the WRX cost more to insure than the STI. The insurance company said the reason why it cost more is because there are more people crashing them than the STI, hence jacking up the cost for everyone.

I bought my wrx base with the technology package, wheel locks and all weather floor mats, for 25660 + tax and lic(dealer price was 28200). I can afford an STI but the WRX is faster in real world driving, looks just as good and well, cost 10k less.

"But a used 08-10 STI can be had for almost the same price!?", said the person obsessed with numbers on paper.

Yeah well for the same price as a used car, I got a brand new one that I know has never been abused, has a longer warranty and is actually faster. No brainer for the practical thinker.
