i bought the regular halogen versions because they are the exact same as the hid versions. however i am running a hid kit on mine. its super easy, make sure the bulb fits. and yes def make sure you are running factory wiring to the ballasts then ballast wiring to the bulbs themselves.

Where did you get the HID kit from?
Is it cheaper to go this route rather than getting the HID Depot version?

Cknowlen, the problem I'm having is I purchased an h1 hid kit for the headlights but the hid kit has a 9006 plug while the factory harness has a 9007 plug...hence the issue. I'm also interested in seeing what hid kit you got and how it wired up. I'll post a picture of my hid kit with wiring when I get home from work.

I purchased my hid kit a long time ago from a local vendor, and have since then just replaced bulbs as necessary. Usually from eBay. I can take a picture of how mine is wired up today, but keep in mind that I am not using a factory connector. I spliced into the lighting wires for wiring my ballasts and high beams seperately.

And yes it was cheaper for me to go this route since I already essentially had an hid kit. All I needed was to buy the right size bulbs and I was all set.

Should I get the Depot HID replicas or a set of JDM chrome HIDs?
I like the idea of having OEM lights but they would be RHD and also ten years old.
The price isn't the issue it's the age and RHD...

The RHD projector in the JDMs will need to be modified.

Either buy a LHD shield or get a good oem projector (e.g. from RX330, RX350, TSX, S2000) to retrofit.

You may also need to polish the outside lens of the headlight, as they may haze with age.

Yeah-all that extra work & $ to fix up already pricey JDM's doesn't seem worth it.
Depots it is!

So i was acctually very impressed that depo started making aftermarket JDMs.
DEPO is NOT an Ebay brand, as some of you have refferred earlier in the thread.

DEPO has been making lights for a long time. If your car has been in an accident, the body shop will ask you, "do you want OEM or aftermarket?" fact is, OEM is perfect fitment every time, Aftermarket, is cheaper, but may require a bit of work to fit right. a sacrifice you make with EVERY Aftermarket part.

fact of the matter is, if you say you want aftermarket parts on your wrecked car, and you have smashed headlights, your getting DEPO. because they are widely reguarded in the autobody world to be the best aftermarket headlights. 9/10 times the bolt right in, and from 10 feet, you wont be able to tell the difference. i had to replace one headlight on a 10 WRX a while back, the DEPO, looked just like the factory one, and after aiming, you couldnt tell it was an aftermarket light.

At some point in my build, im sure ill be buying these.

Yes, I've been following this post and they are no where to be found on eBay. I would bet that they just sold all they had and are waiting for more. Glad I ordered mine very early on.

I guess you could look up neondials (seller) on eBay and shoot them an email to inquire about the headlights and if they will be available again.

Here is what I am thinking. Technically these lights aren't really replicas, they are replacement parts for OEM at a cheaper cost for insurance companies. I think they are NOT USDM lights but either Euro or JDM. Maybe the seller on eBay has been importing them similar to what people do with factory JDM parts.

Maybe try going to a collision center and inquire about Depo replacements and if they can get them.

I just found this: http://jdmautolights.com/subaru-head...217641c71b6d99 but there isn't pictures for all the items.

So glad I got my "eagle eye" USDM replicas, retrofitted them with clear-lens E55 bi xenon projectors, run 50 watt ballasts and get far more output and(gasp!) proper beam pattern for pennies by comparison.
