Default Nice Safety Mod for the unspoken about :)

We see so many mods to our cars on here but rarely see any that keep people safe. More specifically to the young ones that some of us may have. So here is my favorite mod to date: Recaro Sable Baby Racing Seat

Kid tested, and Wifey approved!!

This is awesome! I actually bought the same seat 3 weeks ago in anticipation of my STI getting delivered this week. How do the colors on the material match up?

It's the only mod that my wife hasn't grumbled about yet ....

Been curious about these, are they adjustable as the child grows or is it strictly for young toddlers.

I've had the previous model (less padded it seems and looks more like a bucket seat) for almost 4yrs now. Once they out grow the seat harness the seat back can be extended and used as a booster w/the car's seat belt. My daughter loves it. She has a nicer seat than I do lol!

The colors aren't exactly the same as our interior. However, they are the closest without having to do a full upholstery job...

Like Proper282 says, you can remove the padding and turn it into a booster seat untilzing the seat belt from the car. This is by far better looking and more lush than my other $200 "gel" padded baby seat.

I have two ProRides in Blue Opal for my daughter. It has a bit more purple in it vs. the baby blue some of the photos show.

fyi, check your manual regarding putting the seat in the middle...I believe Subaru is in the list in which car seat should be only place on the left or right as there are no center latch anchors, but u can use the safety belts. I would use both if you want to keep in the center.

+1 I know our STi and Outback manuals recommend putting car seats on either side, avoiding the middle if possible.

as a paramedic, i have had to help a child out of one of these. Great Design, very useful during and after a crash, cool looking safe and effective.....BUT REMEMBER once a child's car seat has been involved in an accident it should be either A. thrown away or B. sent back to manufacturer to be tested. DON'T REUSE CRASH CHILDREN'S SEATS

My car has latches built for the middle. In Fact, it is already installed in that fixed position with all three latch points. Ive been thinking that in side impact situations, itd be best to be in the fixed position centered in the vehicle. It'd prevent the child from being hit in the most extreme situations:

Agreed, I plan on sending it back to them if this were to occur. They usually send you a BRAND new seat. They use the old one in research for testing.

You might want to check your manual, this is from the 2011 WRX owners manual regarding placing a car seat in the rear middle...

"Installing a child restraint system is not recommended, although the A/ELR seatbelt and an upper anchorage (tether anchorage) (except in Latin American models) are provided in this position. Some types of child restraints might not be able to be secured firmly due to projection of the seat cushion."

It says the "Rear seat, window-side seating positions" are the "Recommended positions for all types of child restraint systems"

I love my son's car seats. It took me a while to convince my wife to even think of looking at them. After educating her on the quality of Recaro, we went and visited the store to look at them. She loved them. Being stationed in Germany, we picked up the Young Profi-Plus, then he grew out of that one at 10 months and picked up the Young Sport. We also decided to get the Recaro Stroller when be bought the Young Profi-Plus. Makes me jealous he has all these Recaro items already. My have been expensive, but keeping my son safe is something I'm willing to fork out the cash for.

Young Profi-Plus:

Young Sport:

This car seat latches to the frame from the hooks between the cushions. It also latches to the top latch of the window deck like mentioned in subaru. There is no way I'm putting my son next to impact zones of the vehicle. I need to find that image of the baby that survived a roll collision due to being in their car seat in the middle of the rear seat vehicle. The parents died in the front seat unfortunately but the car spared the childs life being that the child was in the center of the vehicle practically.
