Which one ?

Our '12 burns very little oil between changes should I report it to our Dealer for inspection ?

But then that makes any engine an "inline" engine. Sorry man but I think you're wrong! Subaru identifies these engines (other than boxer) as H-4's

Yep, there are Subaru tools and those suffering from post purchase rationalization in this thread too. I don't burn oil, but I don't doubt it's a problem with some. And 40k on plugs? That's so 1900's...

Our vw is 40k on double platinum plugs and they are 15/each, 5 total. It is hard on plugs, and uses some oil.

What I find amusig is the fact that you believe that subaru 1qt in 1.2k is proposterous yet you don't seem to have much of an issue with the oci being 7.5k

If you can name a car that does not have any reports of oil consumption I would love to know what car this is. As I said above your car consumes oil that falls outside the amount that most are reporting therefore you have an issue, however 7.5k oci is penny wise pound foolish. I would advise anyone with an oil consumption issue to keep a level head, refrain from attacks either on the company or on anyone commenting on the issue, and approach soa as one cohesive unit. Hysteria will not accelerate resolution of this problem.
sounds just luke someone else on here.
How do we form this "unit".
So auskip the lame has declared boxers to be inlines.... ahhh good old stupid troll.

In the 90's I had cars that didnt burn oil, with decent seats.
And it may actually be 30k on the plugs...

Is it really necessary to call people names and start personal attacks? You have noted that I have been more than civil in my q&a with you, you simply do not need to lower your standards and engage in such behaviour.

thanks

In typical lawyer fashion you sjew the facts.
What name did I call you and when have I been uncivil to you?
Your q&a has really just been a condemnation, and a relentless argument.
You are telling us to take better care of our cars. Lame.

Your tone has been quite angry and you have called others trolls. You are being uncivil to others please at least make an attempt to control your outburst and or anger. WE should all take better care of our vehicles and also properly select our OCI based on the conditons which we drive in and how we drive our cars. I have in no way altered the facts and have acknowledged the situation with your oil consumption, I am not certain if you have a persecution complex but the world is not out to get you. I am not goliath and you are not david, sometimes a simple debate is just that, there is never a necessity to go off on people or on rants (diatribes) when such tactics simply obscures your point and demonstrates that you are being provincial.

Your point about the OCI is sort of invalid as I have to refill this thing every couple 1000 miles.
I think the longest any oil has stayed in my crankcase without being drained is 5000 miles

I will agree with you to this extent if I did have a car that didn't burn oil I definitely wouldn't put 7500 miles on it on an OCI. I tend to maintain my machinery very well as evidenced by all of my post all the way back to the first 1.

Well that's pretty expensive. I haven't remove any of mine yet but when I do I'll let you know if they are irridium or copper everyone at the dealerships told me there copper.

40k is too long for copper plugs, especially at the voltages modern ignition systems run.

Same dealer that didn't even know oil weights, etc? I never trust a dealer

Horizontally Opposed Type O Engine But if you can draw one line through the center of the crankshaft and it falls in the middle of every cylinder regardless of how many banks then its a Straight (inline) engine.

Very little in an oci- as in less than a quart?
I and others here who are legitimately cheated by soa have to pour in several quarts to go an oci. If talking about it while soa sits on their laurels doing nothing is considered bitching, whining, a diatribe, whatever- I really dont care. All I'm doing is discussing a problem with other consumers. Anyone that doesnt like the content, tone, or attitude, well they don't hAve to read or participate. Like Asskip- I had to put "it" on ignore at the express urging of several others who thought the troll was best left ignored. I agree.
He likes to take cheap shots and jabs at me at every oportunity and in all my internet posting is one of the most irritating trolls ever.

I found that post. They were Iridium (as specified in the factory manual) and in fine shape - the gap was still within factory specification.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hlight=iridium

You even posted that you only planned on checking yours at 20k.

I wouldnt put too much stock in what he says. I would be surprised if he could even find them. The only thing this guy knows how to do is complain. He has provided no real leak down or compression numbers. If the oil problem was as bad as he talks about then that would be the first place i would start looking.

He knows how to change his oil and rep for Amsoil signature series because their own test says they are the best.

Yep, thanks for the link, I didnt feel like digging it up. I could have sworn the plugs were copper, but I've been wrong before.
Hard to remember what has been said in what thread since I've been a membef for well over a year.
