Question 02 wrx fuel cut when tank empty?

I was recently on the way to the gas station with my needle dead on or just below the empty line (not good i know but im so broke im surprised im even able to fill up) and i decided to give it a quick first gear pull to the gas station at the top of the hill. When i hit 5k rpms they stopped rising and started falling as if i had taken my foot completely off the pedal.
I decided to try it again thinking i might have lifted my foot without realizing somehow and like clockwork as soon as it hit 5k it stopped and started falling again. It was literally as if i just took my foot off the pedal no odd sounds or anything no check engine light nothin. At first i thought the fuel was just all in the back of the tank since i was going uphill but the fact that it happened at exactly 5k both times makes me think its some sort of safety fuel cut from the factory to protect the engine from sucking air or something idk. Any ideas?

How about you just put some gas in the damn thing... Or you can just keep doing what you're doing until your car blows up. Empty means put fuel in me and stop doing stupid things unless you like fuel starvation.

Saving this.

This may be one of the most ridiculous threads I've ever seen.

Im currently between jobs and am starting a new one next week so i havnt been able to fill up when i get down to half a tank like i normally do. I usually dont let it go below half a tank but i did this time and i got the fuel cut so i was just wondering if it was a factory safety or somethin else

No it wasn't. And words of advice. If you are broke and dont have money for gas then you should conserve your gas instead of wot pulls up hills.
