I was stock for about 500 miles, and then MY break in period was over. felt awesome getting rid of the rich crappy stock tune.

You should know better than to be driving stock. Shame on you

Not that I care... I just think its funny that I start this thread to see who is driving a stock car, and yet 95% of the responses are from people with a list of mods.

I'm "stock" except for a shift knob, front lip, Pioneer nav, winter tires and wheels for the snow... STI stock rear sway bar........ And a Stage1 OTS tune. *

(*- not considering the SPT "STS, exhaust, and turbo heat shield cover" that was on the car sitting on the lot to be "mods".)

I guess I consider myself "stock by comparison" to other WRXs?

I bought my 02 WRX with FULL intentions of making the best STOCK wrx that I could. Make it in pristine condition of everything stock - make it run like it was new off the lot.

I bought it in November; with limited cash funds I am almost at stage 2 with a new clutch, TBE, and various minor details - roughly 1.5k invested lol... Just gotta get that AP now...

I see how long that lasted.....must be a Subaru thing.

Mine is very close to stock. Short shifter, sway bars, mud flaps, retune. That's it.

I said I'd get a catback to bring out the rumble. Then I said hell let's get that dp with an AP and flash stage 2. Now I'm about to get tuned for a VF39, EWG, STI TMIC, ID1000cc, Walbro 255, and a Grimmspeed EBCS.

I'm really telling myself this is it though since I'm sitting on my stock 5 speed on 116K miles.

Besides a drop in filter, I'm pretty much stock. I think about putting all kinds of mods on my hatch. However, I think at most, I'll put an exhaust, and then start saving up some money to get a Evo, and mod that, just a better platform.

My '13 STi is still stock with 5300 miles. Honestly this is the first car I've owned where I have liked it so much from stock that I kinda wanna leave it alone. Or it could be the age and sense thing kicking in (BOOO). Lol.

It's a good thing Nutley never floods or has black-outs.

The only thing I have in mine is lamin x on the headlights. Not even oil change yet
But yes. Probably after factory warranty runs out, I'll be upgrading a lot of stuff. And things...

I've owned lots of modified cars over the years. I've learned that driving stock is not fun, but the more you modify, the more compromises you introduce. The reality is most aftermarket parts do not fit or have the reliability of stock. Also, people on forums will greatly overstate the positives, while understating the many of the annoying negatives/compromises. That annoys the hell out of me because I've been suckered into buying many crap parts in the past.

With all that said, I'm way past buying parts that can seriously impact motor and drivetrain reliability. I'm all for well choosen styling parts, a quality suspension, and very mild bolt-ons that might add 10-15% more power while improving response and sound. I'm WAY past worrying about being the fastest on the street. There will always be someone faster and with deeper pockets.

Improving the driving dynamics of the car a little bit here and there while setting it's looks a part from the others is my goal now. What most people remember about your car is how it looked and how good/bad it sounded. Speed is very hard to judge unless you're riding in the car. From the outside, a low 14-second car doesn't move out much slower than a 12-second car. I've spent many years at the stripand can make that judgement.

Stock usually does not last long on any WRX/STi. Sorry Im not stock. It was stock during my test drive. I always modify my stuff to make it the way I would have built it. Good luck and be safe. Stock is OK. No big deal if you stay that way. But I'm sure you will swap out some part to loose the STOCK status.

Now my wife's 2012 2.0i Impreza sedan is a STOCK. Zero plans to modify that. Does that help at all.
