Hey OP, how do you feel about the Cobb SF intake? I'm debating about getting it, mostly for sound. For some reason I'm a little worried about getting an intake even though I do have an accessport.

Plus I hadn't even considered CNT. But after some digging around I'm scratching my head just like you guys. Tough decisions.
Hey man! Thanks a lot (:

I think after having it for about a week now that it was totally worth the buy. I haven't had any issues with the ground clearance yet, although I'm not lowered either. Roads around my town are pretty bad too..

The CNT looked really nice as well, i'd just go with Q300 hands down now though

Hey!

I was skeptical at first as well, with all the debates etc etc.. I got it just because I really love the sound it makes and it also toned up the exhaust note a little bit.. and like 1 or 2 MPG

I wouldn't be too worried about it, as long as you know that you're not going to get MUCH HP out of it then pull the trigger! I'm super happy with it, it looks awesome with the box in the engine bay too.

Yeah I thought about going for the CNT especially with how good it sounds. But if I do it I want to do it right. I'm stuck between this, the SPT, and TurboXS. But thanks for the info regarding ground clearance. I don't plan on lowering, so hopefully I'll be ok.

Sure thing! All of those are great exhausts.. Ive heard the CNT has a little drone, and the spt is a little too much like stock for me. The Q300 has very very little drone, not enough to bug. But good luck! Any of those would sound awesome.

My buddy has the CNT on his 13 hatch with stock downpipe. No drone whatsoever. We can hold a normal conversation without an issue. I sat on the back seat too and while it's a little louder you can still have a normal conversation and hear people in the front just fine. Just throwing that out there in case anyone was interested in the CNT.

Yeah, I think most CBE's have little to no drone with the stock DP. But once the DP is added, totally different sound! Can't wait for mine..

I just put on my Q300 on my 2011 hatch and I haven't really experienced the drone. I'm in love with sound to be honest.

With aftermarket DP, Q300 has bad drone. This seems to be well known even by Invidia. They suggest keeping OEM DP and not installing their down pipe if you are bothered by drone. A pretty sad response to the problem from Invidia, IMHO. They essential specialize in making exhausts and they can't figure out the drone issue?

Interested in how loud the Q300 is compared to other exhausts. What is the loudest? Sounds like the SPT is pretty quiet.

I think the drone related issue was mostly with the V1 Q300, I know they fixed a lot of known issues in the V2, the hatch does tend to drone a bit more than the sedan though, could be wrong!

I think the Q300 is pretty loud, SPT is pretty quite from my understanding. The Q300 with a DP is definitely a monster though.

I have the Q300 on my '13 hatch, and I get a lot of drone between 2200 and 3000 RPM under any load. Its not deafening, but very noticeable. Below and above its pretty tame, and WOT sounds great.

Just some info for potential buyers. I have a CNT catted DP on the way in the mail. Will update with how it sounds once I get it installed.

Really? How new is the exhaust for you? At first their was a slight drone but their is hardly any at all now.. Maybe i just don't notice it as much haha.

Let me know how it sounds, i'd be interested in hearing a video as well!

I've got 2700 miles on the exhaust, so I'd guess that it's sufficiently broke in. The amount of drone varies day to day it seems. Here in VA Beach we have some pretty extreme temperature variations, and that seems to affect it.

Yeah thats a lot more broken in than mine haha. I could see temp affecting it but i dont know if it would drastically. Once adding the DP ive heard their is drone, but i can't wait to get mine!

[08 STi with full turbo back invidia set-up.] I get drone, bad. And my exhaust in the hatch is loud. But today, I roll into the parking garage at work, setting off a couple of car alarms as usual, with the heavy, deep rumbling sound of my pipes echoing throughout the garage for all to hear. A slight smile comes across my face as I do my typical couple turns around the garage to the 3rd level where usually park. As I roll into my space and slightly hit the gas revving the engine, just for the hell of it, I pull to a final stop and I realized something, an epiphany as it were. That low frequency, bass sound coming out of my little 2.5L engine that I love, is the same thing that I hate. I got the Invidia exhaust cuz I didn't want my boxer engine to sound ricey at all. God please don't say my car looks or sounds like a Honda. I don't want a 5.0 engine but I kind of like the muscle car sound. Don't give me a tin canny, raspy, rice pipe. I want an exhaust sound that I can feel in my chest. And that's what Invidia has designed. A deep throaty sound that hits the low end of the frequency spectrum. Sets off car alarms, two 12' subs in your trunk, shakes windows, and shakes your eardrums. Cool when rolling around the neighborhood but on a 5 hour trip to the mountains, cold weather, all those elements that make drone hell...well, that is the part that I hate. I got exactly what I wanted, and now I hate exactly what I wanted. And that's my love / hate relationship with Invidia. And overall, it sounds like that is the never-ending story with exhaust systems and drone, and the never-ending story with women too.

Love it or just leave it alone.

Hey bitter!

It fit okay, you just have to take out the donut joint that is their because it has a flex joint on the new pipe. All of the fitment everywhere was actually really really nice.

Well said! I also came from a 2005 mustang with dual 40 series flowmasters, that droned like crazy! It's definitely a love/hate relationship, but WOT is definitely worth it (;

Completely agree! At WOT, the exhaust note is such a pleasant, soothing sound, and surprisingly doesn't bring nearly as much attention as a street bike, or other loud exhausts. If I could just ride around everywhere above 4000rpms, my life would be perfect!
