I saw this a couple nights ago on Netflix. It was decent. Not the best documentary, I've seen better ones for HBO's 24/7 but for boxers.

I watched it. The only reason it was halfway decent was it was half Chael Sonnen footage.

I forgot how funny he was leading up to that fight. So ruthless.

He was tooling on jones pretty hard the other day. Saying he should hit a pole again to miss the fight... Has him pretty pissed off

Hmmm didn't know there was a Glory show on. The last one I watched was the NYE special. I hope Bahr Hari was on the card.

Dan hardy isn't getting cleared by Cali to fight. He has a "wolf heart" (forget the specific name). Other commissions may clear him in the future but he won't ever be able to fight in Cali again.

I do for the sake of Matt brown. He's a local and has come on lately. Dan hardy is a name big enough to beat and give him a fight with someone in the top five of the division. He's now fighting an up n comer that's stepping in (forget his name) who has everything to win and nothing to lose by taking the fight.

My very brief generic understanding is that the heart has an extra set of electrodes that give it an overdrive mode essentially... not that he is like super human or anything but meaning his max heart rate is higher than the standard 220 bpm. . The issue is it can also cause strange heart beat patterns that can lead to heart attacks. It is a rare disease, and even more rare that it is life threatening... But the commission is just covering their bases. He is ****ed if others change their rules as well because it can't be cured.

Watching it a second time was better. I didn't really enjoy it the first time because my jaw was on the floor

Not bad! That's one of those fights I'll remember forever because I couldn't believe what was happening.

There are a handful of MMA documentaries on Netflix, but few show actual fight footage. I'm surprised they could pull that off - thought the UFC wouldn't allow actual footage on anything but their productions.

I'm sure UFC got some royalties off of it. I'm surprised it didn't get much advertisement. I only stumbled upon it by accident as I was searching for "Side by Side". Once I typed in "Si" - Silva came up on the suggestion list.

If you haven't seen it, you should look at the Fightville documentary. I enjoyed it.

Cliffies: Man becomes woman, trains in MMA and is still undefeated.

Opponents say it's not fair. She's as strong as a man and fights like a man.

What say ye, MMA fans?

One advantage that comes to mind is cutting weight. It is much easier for men to cut water weight than it is for women. I won't pretend to know all the physiology involved with gender reassignment, but my guess is that doesn't change 100% when you lop your wiener off and start taking hormone pills.

Official statement from my teammate regarding Fallon Fox:

http://relentlessmgmtmma.com/2013/03...on-fallon-fox/

Quote:
Ever since the news broke that Fallon Fox, one of the fighters in the CFA Womenís Featherweight Tournament, is a post-operative transsexual, there has been a lot of chatter in the media about whether or not she should be allowed to retain her fighterís license and continue in the tournament. Like Fallon, I am a semi-finalist in the CFA tournament. Unlike Fallon, I was born with a vagina. Over the past three weeks, Iíve sat back and watched the story unfold without speaking out. The main reason Iíve stayed quiet is that itís a delicate subject and Iím afraid of inadvertently offending people or of saying something that will be taken out of context and misconstrued. To that end, let me begin by saying I have no issues with lesbians, gays, bisexuals, or transgender individuals. I do, however, have issues with the argument that I, a born woman, should be expected to cage fight someone who was born and lived for thirty-one years as a man. As an athlete and a woman, I am frustrated by the way the situation has played out and by the fact that many people seem more concerned with preserving Fallonís feelings than with protecting the physical safety of me and the other female competitors in the tournament.

Firstly, I am perturbed that Fallon did not disclose her transgender status before getting into the cage and fighting women. Yes, I know that her driverís license says sheís a woman, but this does not obviate the fact that she was born and developed as a man. I have difficulty believing that she did not realize from the outset that were it known, her status as a transgender athlete would raise problems. I believe that not disclosing her medical history prior to competition reveals a lack of integrity as well as a lack of respect for the commission, for the promotion, and, most importantly, for the other fighters in the tournament. Now we have one woman who was brutally knocked out in a fight that in all likelihood should not have been sanctioned and three others who are waiting in limbo while the commission and the CFA scramble to sort things out.

Fallon has fought five times as a mixed martial artist, three times as an amateur and twice as a professional. In all five fights, she finished her female opponent in the first round. I am not an expert in gender reassignment, but I have a hard time believing that there is no correlation between Fallonís success in the cage and the fact that she lived as a man for thirty-one years. Fallon argues that she won these fights because she is a highly skilled martial artist. She claims that any woman who refuses to fight her is really just scared. This is absolutely delusional. Before the news of Fallonís sexual reassignment broke, I remember watching her warm up for her March 2nd fight and wondering how sheíd finished all her opponents so quickly. I mean, she looked okay, but she definitely didnít display the sort of technical mastery she claims to possess.

Ultimately, I do not think there is sufficient hard evidence to show that Fallon does not have physical advantages over the women she has fought. I understand why people are advocating for Fallon and I appreciate that it is important to protect her rights, but I think it should be just as important to protect the safety of the other women in the tournament. Until I am presented with conclusive evidence that a fight with Fallon would, in fact, be fair, I will not be entering the cage with her.

I'm not sure when transgender men attained the "right" to fight women.

That made me laugh too when Fallon Fox said she had the "right to fight women." What right? Even Thai transgender kickboxers have an entire transgender division. Or you just fight the other men and sometimes kick ass.

That is amazing that Thailand has it's own division for tranny kickboxers!

I totally agree with your teammate and think that the transgender person should not be allowed to fight against women.

No matter how you slice it, this sort of thing is a game, but it's a dangerous game and there are rules to protect the fighters from getting seriously injured or killed. You saw a lot of crazy crap in the old days when big guys fought little guys, but these days the skill level is too high to allow that sort of stuff to go on. You can't have 110lb guys fighting heavyweights and by the same token you can't have someone who was a man for 30+ years just go on and fight a woman.
