Default New subaru motors

Was wondering the other day if the direct injection heads would fit on any other motor and work properly? Any ideas?

At the very least you'll need new fuel rails pump, pistons and probably an ecu. If you got aftermarket ecu you'll probably be able to make it work after alot of work. That's if they even fit. I imagine because you could but a full engine swap would probably be easier.

But it would be cool.

Being that one motor uses a timing belt and the other a timing chain, you would be looking at some major modifications, fabrication and machine work, custom camshafts and thats if you are lucky and the heads bolt up and have the same oil feeds and drains and coolant passages. Other than that you are looking at changing the complete fuel system and also running a stand alone engine management system. Or you could just swap in a new motor and harness ecu and call it a day.
