Default 2011 STI Possible ECU issues

I bought my STI back in June. I recently went over 13,500 miles.
On my way from driving to Omaha, NE from California I had a cylinder #2 misfire @ 94 mph in 6th gear or about 3670 rpm. This issue was cleared up after a number of restarts and a short trip to the dealership. It would seem that now I am having an issue with the ABS/hill start assist/traction control turning off, the terrain of Omaha is slightly more hill ridden than California but these problems have only seemed to occur when sitting on flat terrain at stop lights. Turning the car on/off clears the problem but it is starting to get rather bothersome. This is my 4th Subaru. 1984 Wagon. 2006 Impreza. 2010 WRX.

Yes. I can be sitting idle at a stop light w/ foot off the clutch and all the warning lights for ABS, traction control, and hill assist just turn on.

What leads you to believe that this is an ECU problem? When you turn the car off, you do not cut power to the ECU which means that there is no reset occurring. Honestly, you have a car that is misbehaving significantly and it's under warranty. Bring it to the dealership and have them look at it. Sounds like you don't have problems reproducing it so they should be able to see it.

Okay, after a small wait to get into the dealer, here is their almighty answer.
Apparently after driving my car for about 10 miles they were unable to duplicate the issue.
Not very surprising really. There was a stored code for the ABS/Traction control system stored in the computer but they were not sure what really caused this issue.

While this doesn't 'solve' the problem, why not just turn off the hill assist? I have it perma-enabled on my 08, and it's never been a problem. But I believe in 09+'s you can turn it off with some procedure...

Just curious if you were able to solve this problem? ...Asking because I have a 2011 Sti Limited which started doing the same thing at 12k and I am kinda reluctant to take it to the dealer for obvious reasons,...thanks.

I'm wondering if you living in California, aren't you limited to 91 octane gas? If so, get tuned for that gas, as your STi is really setup for 93 octane currently. When you then throw changing elevations on your road trip into the mix, that could be a contributing factor potentially. Aside from that, what gas are you using? You could have just had a bad tank of gas. I recommend sticking to new(er) Chevron stations, and don't just toss anything you can find into the car.

Good luck...

The dealership should have been able to pull the DTC from the VDC memory. Even if they could not duplicate the condition, the DTC in memory would give them an indication of what may be happening.
Then again, if the freeze frame data indicated 94 MPH, they would just clear the code and tell you to pound sand.

I had the same issue with the traction control, ABS, and Hill Assist lights coming on. I took it to Beardmore Subaru in Omaha and they told me it was the break sensor and replaced it for me and haven't had an issue ever since. Hope this helps.

I'm having the exact same problem with the ABS traction control and up hill assist lights coming on. Mine don't always come on when I start the car but after driving for maybe 5-10 minutes they come on. I hit a curb this winter and had my control arm replaced. Think the ABS sensor could be broken also?
