At the Track NEHA: Mt. Ascutney #1 hillclimb (2013) in Vermont

New England Hillclimb Association (NEHA)

2013 Spring Mt. Ascutney Hillclimb

I can answer any questions here.

Open to anyone 18+ with a valid driver's license, an 2.5# ABC fire ext with metal bracket, and a valid helmet. Those are the min. requirements.

Without a cage, you are driving against the breakout time.

Course is 4 miles!

100% paved road.

Video of 4 mile course (not my in-car): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_QMBIG9bnI

I need to get to this this year. I did it way back in 08 and it was phenomenal!

It is a fun venue (my favorite of the series), plus we are running the "long course" (4 miles) instead of the typical "short course" (3 miles). I think the last time we ran the 4 mile hill was 2004 or 2005. If you drove in 2008, that was the short course.

To give you an idea of the speed at the top of the hill.... typically, the Okemo hillclimb is the fastest (top speed in any given section) wherein my old Rabbit would hit a max of 83 mph. At the top of Ascutney (long course straightaway), my speedometer stated 100 mph. Keep in mind that I don't believe the speedometer to be accurate as I was running very short tires, but it still shows a dramatic speed increase between the two hills, regardless.

Hope you can make it this year. What did you drive back in 2008?

Fun event. If you plan on going, and camping at the campground, it would be wise to get your reservation sooner than later.
I can't wait to tackle the long course, but have to admit that this hill still gets the best of me.

Back then I had a lightly modified 2.5rs. I now have a full usdm 2004 STi swap, so it should be quite a bit more interesting.
