Soooo. The builder called me today. (He lives an hour away) and apparently this motor has already been taken down and rebuilt. Except they used CP forged internals and rods and ARP head studs!! Whoever did it tho, however did not have the thrust set correctly and it ruined the main bearings so that's where my issues were coming from.

So we'll be able to reuse the internals and everything else will be rebuilt, gaskets, seals, bearings, machine the heads and clean/check/adjust valves and new stem seals. All that good stuff.

Now apparently it also has a burnt valve. I'm goin to replace all of the valves. On the exhaust sides at least. Good idea or bad or indifferent?

Who's knows when I'll be getting this thing back. Replacing all the valves now and timing belt and tensioner kit. Apparently the "other shop" that just did the belt not even 3k miles ago messed it up and it was worn badly. I'm really not too pleased but I guess it is what it is. The wait continues

well look at it this way..With everything being rebuilt under the hood, and the exterior looking flawless. This car should last for a very long time.
Beautiful bugeye, hope you get it back soon.

Yes I can agree with that. I just figured the guy should be doing work in the order it comes in. That's how I run my photography business.

Ohwell

Ok so update. Car will be done Wednesday. And I'll be picking it up. We ended up doin all new exhaust and intake valves. And CP sent us the wrong rings otherwise it woulda been done yesterday. They sent us the 93mm rings in a 92.5 box. Ohwell. Can't wait to have this thing back. The whole engine is mint now!

How long does it take to install a motor? He's saying the rings didn't come yesterday meaning they should be there today. It's been over a month without my car and I miss her

The car looks like it is in immaculate condition for its age and miles. Also sounds well mechanically maintained.

So I got it back and now the clutch is slipping. I bled it and tested it again and still slipping. What could be wrong?

edit: didnt read the whole second page lol.. Hopefully your troubles are spared for a while. Seems like you hit some bad luck! Do you think your car was modified and turned somewhat stock to the dealer? Is it a stock turbo? Built block before but stock turbo? Wouldn't make sense to me unless they stopped in between their build.

Any ideas why the clutch would be slipping so as now? What could he have messed up while he was in three? And could the slave have gone bad from sitting?

I ordered a nabtesco clutch space cylinder. I'm assuming this is a good brand. I've found them online for well over $200 but got a deal on this one.
