id just like to say that your car is making my decision to sell my jdm's and do a retro fit on the stockers is becoming much easier after seeing yours. if you dont mind me asking what setup are you running and if you have any cutoff shots?

Thanks! But I really like the JDM's as well.

I am running the Morimoto's mini H1's from TRS. I don't have any cut off shots as if yet but I can take some next time I have the car out.

I know this is a lil off topic, but I've searched a significant amount and all I seem to find is fighting. So I thought I'd ask my Bugeye Bros . Is anyone using Rotella T6 5w40 in your car? If so any problems. I have amsoil 5w30 in there right now and have had no problems but I can't find a dealer anywhere close to me and Walmart sells Rotella.

Again sorry for the stray of topic but I figured feedback from you guys would be the best I could get as far as what you all use

I've used Rotella T6 for my last 4 oil changes and it's been great. The engine makes a lot less (Subaru) noise and the oil certainly seems to keep it's form until the next change as opposed to the Mobil 1 I was using which was basically water by the time the next change.

I have used Rotella exclusively for three years. There is no substitute in my opinion. The detergent levels keep the engine clean and the oil does not shear - ensuring avoidance of spun bearings with the right oil levels.

i changed to mobile1 5w30 for the really cold winter because i thought the T6 was slowing it down on cold starts. turns out it was the battery more than anything. i went to drain the 5w30 after 3300 miles and it was like water. never again. I love running t6, my motor seems so happy.

Seriously.... Mobil 1 is horrible. The last change when I took it out I spilled a bunch from the drain pan on my garage floor. It didn't look like used motor oil, it looked like used cooking oil.

I used amsoil for a while too. Didn't shear down quite as bad as the Mobil 1 does, but NOTHING seems to hang in there like the T6!

T6 + OEM blue filter = Happy little EJ!

Back on topic....

Gonna go register the car tomorrow and officially pull it out of the garage! Pics up soon, if I can get a day off work to catch up on life :-/

Not all Fram filters are Honeywell filters. I've cut both the blue and a run of the mill Fram filters in two. The Fram was not up to the quality of the Honeywell blue IMO.

It's not so much the size of the filter, it's the bypass we care about. There's a thread on here with a detailed list iirc. In short a lot of the aftermarket filters will forever bypass due to the high oil pressure these engines run. We do want the filter to, well, FILTER. Right?

118,000 miles and counting, I'll stick with the $6 blue/ t6 oil change. Seems to be the way for me :-)

Sorry to stick my nose in and drag on your side bar, but this T6 I'm reading about... I run 5w-30 castrol gtx. It said above you guys are running 5w-40? Isn't that viscosity too high? Where do you live? Is it the temperatures or why run 40?

I've got the same Morimoto Mini H1 set-up in my headlights, and i'd have to say they are great compared to how easy they were to install, and how cheap they were compared to other projectors. Bought mine from The Retrofit Source as well.

In Florida where it's hotter than satins nuts I run 5w-40. But I run it because of temp, and also because I couldn't fine 5w-30 anywhere
