Just got over 183k on it, second owner, bought the car with only 42,000, in 6 years put the other 142+ plus on it. Trying to sell but wish I didn't have to...

Just checking back in seeing who's new etc! Lots of good stuff on here. I just ordered a V7 EJ207 should be here in next few days and will be swapping in the next week or two. My little 2.0 is still running stronger then ever with about 185k on it, ill probably be close to 190k when removed and it will still be running awesome! Can't wait for the v7 refresher though!

My 03 wrx has 117,000 on it right now. I bought it with 116,000. So far everything is great with the car.

Default 02 rust bucket

My '02 wrx wagon has 190k on the clock. Only real modifications have been rear sway bar, prodrive springs (remember them?) and KYB shocks.

The rest is stone stock. No oil burning, no rebuilds.

The thing is, I live in the NE and the salt has destroyed the car. I've had the front end replaced under the "Salt states" recall but even so my garage guys tell me they won't pass it for inspection next year as the rest of the frame is just crumbling.

sigh. The car still brings a smile when I drive it.

Probably off topic, but if you were to replace it, what year would you focus in on? (Sorry, I haven't kept up with model changes and I haven't been on the forum since 2007)

cheers,

mch

Hahah that's awesome though hoping to take mine off the road for next winter spent its first 8 years in CA so no rust at all yet but I also live in New England and the salt can be a pain. Replace what? The car?

Sorry, I wasn't clear ... yes, the car.

It really appears that Subaru has put all of their models on Growth Hormone (or Steroids) in the last decade and they ALL look bloated to me.

Still, if I can put that aside, what relatively recent year WRX wagon would people recommend I search for? (the sweet spot between lower milage, build quality, durability, fun factor, etc..)

Thanks,

mch

sounds like you should look at '09 and '10 WRX hatch. those 2 years had the power bump and before the widebody style that started in '11 so it has a cleaner/smoother look if that's what you're going for.

Thanks. That's the feedback I was looking to get.

Cheers,
