But didn't they offer the manual as the sole transmission for all Golf Rs? I love manuals (been daily-driving an Evo IX for the past seven years and love it), but when car shopping with my girlfriend, manuals aren't an option, though she was looking at a hatchback, possibly with AWD since we snowboard. I'd have pushed for a Golf R if it had a dual clutch or something, so we were eyeing an A3 hatchback, but I told her to wait since I was hoping the new A3 Sportback would be offered in the US.
