Hey Mikey,

I'm a new member with a 2005 Legacy 2.5i LTD 5MT. Right now, I've got a magnaflow catback, AVO intake panel, and a LWCP. Do you have some base maps that would help me milk some more power out of my car? And are there any other effective bolt-ons that would net me any more power?

Mikey tuned my '05 2.5i for 91 octane. Never did a baseline dyno before mods or the tune but hope to have a chance to get on the dyno later this month.

The only other mod I would suggest would be headers.

My setup is as follows - panel filter (K&N or Perrin depending on which one is being cleaned), GroupA throttle body spacer, borla replica headers, 3" cxracing catback, and LWCP.

Yeah, I've been considering getting headers if I can find a decent deal. I'll look forward to seeing your dyno too. Didn't Group A go out of business or is there another place to buy throttle body spacers?

The headers are easy to find on ebay...

Group A did close it's doors. I'm not sure the TBS makes much, if any difference though. Headers are probably better bang for the buck.

Looks like good chance I'll get in on our local club dyno day. Would be nice to have something to compare to - will have to look around for stock 2.5i dyno charts for reference.

Here's my dyno result:

Perrin air filter, Group A TBS, borla replica headers, CXLighting 3" catback exhaust

120 hp!? I knew Mustang dynos read low, but when I saw that I was pretty disappointed. I think the true stock hp at the wheels for our cars is like 130-135. Torque curve looks pretty decent on the low end though. Is your car an automatic? And does it feel significantly different when pulling?

That's what happens when you modify without having any idea of what you are doing? that tq/HP curve looks out of whack until you check the scaling on the graph. Either way it's not very impressive but who knows what stock equipment would show

Is that on a Mustang dyno? Because that really sounds low. Figure they put down 175hp at the crank, 112-118 hp would be like loosing a third of your power through the drive train. I know they're all wheel drive, but I thought Subarus tend to loose about a quarter of their power through the drive train.

I always remember reading somewhere between 30 and 35% loss

Does not look like a valid dyno graph....."Total power" should be "HP"....unless they are showing something else.....then that could make the graph not look valid.

Drivetrains loss is more a constant HP than percent of power. For example A 500 WHP car does not make 750 at the crank.

Most of the stock dyno graphs I've seen are in the 112hp range. That said, it's hard to compare outputs from different dynos as they will all differ. Agreed that it's not particularly impressive but not unexpected either. Without cams and other supporting mods, there's not much else available with just bolt ons.

Car is 5MT.

Total power is measured in HP.

There is a dip in the torque curve but it's more pronounced because of the scaling.

drivetrain loss is 25% guys. this has been measured/verified in the past. obviously this will change if you have a light flyhweel, crank pulley, driveshaft or whatever. but stock...
