Some A-hole neighbor of mine years ago accused me of having a loud car when in fact it was my friend's car that had an open exhaust. My friend came over once at around midnight, and my neighbor brought it up a few days later and thought it was my car. I told him to stuff it. And if he didn't like it, he could tell my friend directly cause I'm not his dad. Also told him to stop letting his kids play on my property since we were now going to be acting like little bitches and nit-picking each other.

After that, I got a surveyor to come out and measure where the property line was. As I suspected he had encroached 30ft onto my property. Right after the surveyors left, I dug up some acacia bushes and re-planted them right on the property line, blocking his kid's access to the creek at the back of the property. Lol. I also told him he needed to move his massive woodpile off my property immediately! And, right when he finished moving the wood( which took him 2 hours), I hung a hammock between the 2 trees where his woodpile was. SUCKA!!!

So, instead of apologizing for your friend's rude behavior to your neighbors, you overreacted and "punished" the neighbor for completely reasonably bringing up the fact that someone at your house, driving a car very similar to yours, had woken everyone up around midnight?

You are pretty much the exact reason for all of the desire to not confront neighbors that has been mentioned in this thread.

You realize that in the future your neighbor can simply call the cops and /you/ will actually be responsible for the noise violation on your property, right? Then your buddy will likely get additional citations upon leaving.

It would make much more sense to do the driving say...oh I don't know...THE NEXT ****ING DAY...maybe?

That is actually a very well-written & fair note you received....maybe your car is too loud???

I have a full catted COBB setup & I occasionally think mine's too loud at idle, and this setup is only about mid-way on the loudness scale, IMO

But on weekends i'll occasionally get home around 2am haha

it's pretty clear who's paying a mortgage and/or has kids, and who doesn't.

I have a nameless axleback delete on my STi, I think it is very loud on cold starts. On weekdays when I leave early to work I roll the car down the street and start it there so I don't wake the neighbors. Then I sit by the lake to let it warm up.

Even when I pass people on the highway I am mindful if they have their windows down I'll pass at the lowest RPM possible.

I did that even with the stock exhaust. And I frequently ask my neighbors if the noise has bothered them at any point. No need to be a dick about it, the car is loud and just because you enjoy it doesn't mean everyone else does.

A little courtesy goes a long way.

4:30am window rattle...

Got up for 5am shift this morning...took a quick video of what a cold start of the Subaru does to the windows near my kitchen.

Although I'm as courteous as possible when I leave in the mornings (never got any letters in my mailbox), I'm sure my neighbors won't be shedding any tears when my 2012 STI is gone end of this month...and I only have an SPT CBE.

Yikes, to create such an ordeal because your d*** is too small and pride too large, and then have to live next to someone who loathes you for legitimate reasons. That sounds like you just Fu**** yourself, good and hard

You guys are STILL arguing over this?

I see a lot of accusations about being courteous and living in peace, yet the ones scolding can't even do it on the damn forums. Oh, the ironing.

Isn't it bad to start your car with the garage closed, ie carbon monoxide?
