I have a swapped GC8 with an EJ20g in it.
It has the typical hard cold-start(sometimes have to burp the throttle to get it up to idle) but once it starts up it runs great.
Sometimes, not all the time, when I drive it just around town or over the hill to boise(about 30 mins from my place), it won't start after I let it sit for awhile. It will crank and it receives fuel but 5 times outta 10 it wont start. Sometimes I get lucky and it will start up after hitting the gas pedal and cranking it for 15-25 seconds a few times. But lately it won't fire back up.
If I push start it, it fires right up. And once the other day it was doing it so I unplugged one of the injectors, cranked it, it fired up then I plugged the injector back in and it ran great.
I have no real reasoning for unplugging the injector other than the previous owner telling me to give that a try.
Today it did it again. So I tried unplugging the injector to start it and no luck.
It seems and smells like it's just fludding it.
Fuel pump primes, no CEL's, I replaced the crank sensor and that did it no good.
Also replaced the plugs a few weeks ago, but it was doing that problem before all that too.
Seems to do it more when it's hot out.
I have no idea on what it can be and some people have told me that the OBD1 EJ20G's just do that because when they turn off they stay closed loop or something like that? I dont remember exactly what they told me.
So:
IACV?
Cam angle sensor?
Injectors?
I'm lost
Any help is greatly appreciated!! I need to get this problem figured out.
Thank you very much.
