So has anyone yet discovered a fairly simple drop in replacement for the exhaust that doesn't cost a fortune?

Well not if you are picky! I for one will pay a higher price for quality work. I am going to get a header custom made by www.rallisportracing.com I've decided not to get an aftermarket one cause I am looking for Mid to High end performance in a header. The problem is finding a competent muffler shop that would do the right thing. I found one that I think would, or I hope do the right thing. I wish I could drive to rallisportracing and get my work done there! But, we don't live in a perfect world do we. I got my muffler that I like, the BRZ OEM muffler. I like the way it purrs, so now it's the mid-pipe that is next and I guess the problem is going to be the fabrication of the mid-pipe correctly in T-304 Stainless Steel and most importantly bolt-on, so when you need to do some service. You see I know that Mike @ rallisportracing is the right person for the job. That is why he is the one that is going to build my custom header. Learned a lot from people on the forums and from Mike too. Will keep you posted as my pieces come together.

News OEM rubber hanger location same as BRZ FRS!

One thing for sure any muffler for a BRZ would fit the 2.0i mount locations. The 4 hanger hooks welded to the frame of the 2.0i is EXACTLY where the mounting for the rubber hangers are located for the BRZ muffler. KEEP IN MIND that this is for the axel back part of the exhaust. The mid pipe still has to be modified so it can fit. If you measure the mounting hooks location they are exactly the same! I think I am going to have my BRZ muffler coated in ceramic.

Default This is some more information for the members.

This is the 2nd CAT and also the 2nd part of the exhaust, the 1st part is the header, the 3rd is the mid-pipe and last 4th is the muffler. I am also going to get this part of exhaust made by Mike @ rallysport racing. I am doing this in sections and in COMPLETE BOLT-ON for future precautions in case it needs to be removed for service.

The picture below is where the mid-pipe connects to the 2nd CAT pipe and uses those springs in the bolts, I am not sure what type they are called. But as you can see they are rusted, cheap OEM parts. Another reason toreplace them. I will post pictures of the OLD and new parts as they are completed.

News Here we have part 3 of the exhaust

The apple strudel of the mid-pipe section. LoL!

Its a BIG one too. It's as long as the muffler for the BRZ!

Hopefully not for long, these custom made exhaust take a while to make.

Any bolt on exhausts or muffler replacements for the 2012 sedan? Looking for a little louder than stock but don't want to deal with welding. Any suggestions?

It's going to be a while before I have anything for the sedan crowd (sorry).

These are now available for purchase for the hatch:

And with tip:

It might be a while before I actually add these to my website, so if interested, email me.

Shipped with stainless nuts/bolts and a OEM gasket.

Hm. Any exhaust clips? It'd be going on a CVT, so don't want it too loud.. How much for one shipped to 15126, without tip? I'm guessing this should be a simple bolt-on with a floor jack and tools?

Anyone familiar with LaChute Performance? I see they have a cat back for the hatch. Unfortunately I'm in the sedan mega minority so nothing for sedan. I emailed they said they were working on one but suffered a bad fire at their primary shop... They might have one available in the fall of this year for the sedan

News Subaru calls it the Intermediate pipe

Well, I found out today that Subaru calls it the "Intermediate Pipe" that is what they call it, when I asked for the bolts for the mid-pipe. LoL

My PM inbox is getting flooded, so I'll post some FAQ's

For ALL axlebacks:

Flanges- 304ss

Piping- 304ss

Hangers- stainless steel

Muffler/Resonator internals- stainless steel

Muffler/Resonator case- Aluminized steel or Polished stainless steel

*Resonator with tip requires trimming the underside of bumper*

I have one of each in stock, after they go there will be a 2-3 week wait before shipping!

Prices: All prices include shipping to lower 48

Resonator without tip (aluminized case)- $295
Resonator without tip (polished stainless case)- $335

Resonator with tip (aluminized case)- $355
Resonator with tip (polished stainless case)- $395

The resonator axlebacks are simply a lower cost alternative to my "normal" axleback:

This style with full bodied muffler and twin tips will be available as soon as I find the time to build a jig/fixture for them. *dual exit, quad tip axleback also coming*

Here is a sound clip of the original axleback (factory header, factory cat pipe, factory mid pipe with custom 2.25" piping from factory resonator to axleback)

The resonator axlebacks will be a little louder than the posted vid

email is the best way to reach me: info@RalliSportRacing.com

Well, this part is Cerma Krome Coated, and it's Custom made to my needs, which is mid-high end horsepower, not like a Generic plant made header, I paid $700 for this custom header, it was rallisport racing prototype header.

If I did not live in this region of the world I would not get it coated, but since the minute a snow flake hit the ground the DOT saturate the roads with SALT !

Subaru Stars Yes, waiting for the entire setup.

Yes, I want to do a side by side comparison of the entire exhaust. And see how the complete 2.25" of the stainless steel exhaust is going to benefit me.
I like a lot of the OEM Subaru parts, but this will be an improvement over stock. I am confident that I am going to get the results I am looking for. I just want a bit more pep, without spending WRX STi money. LoL

On another note: The 2014 Forester has a 2.0i engine and I believe it's turbo too! With a CVT, I wonder if it's the same motor? Or the same tranny we have in our Imprezas? Sorry, did not want to come off topic, but it's interesting to know.

This is my next part of the exhaust that I am going to concentrate on, part 3 the intermediate pipe or how we call it, The "mid-pipe" in the picture we have a WRX 3" mid-pipe, but it's a over kill for the 2.0i, Rallisport Racing recommends a 2.25" pipe. Like the one he is modifying for me.

This is the one he is working on for me, again it's going to be coated.
