Besides reducing exhaust volume, does the resonator do anything else?

Resonators, when placed in a mid pipe, are meant to take that mile long stretch of pipe between the second cat and the rear muffler, and break it into two shorter lengths of pipe. The longer exhaust piping is, the greater its chance to resonate and drone while cruising (especially under load at lower RPMs). So the name "resonator" is actually an ironic one, as it's purpose is to prevent resonance.

Post Intermediate Pipe

Look at the intermediate pipe or as we call it, the mid-pipe. A lot of the OEM piping is already rusting on my 2012, and the prices for replacement is too expensive from the stealer, mind as well replace it with something that will last as long as the car will. Good old stainless steel.

Exclamation Not Sure If They Are the Same Mounting Points?

I don't think that the SEDAN has the same mounting points, you can PM "blks6"
from www.rallisportracing.com to find out. I don't think that it would fit since it's mounting area is not the same as a wagon. oh, yeah btw, he can be reached faster through his email: info@rallisportracing.com

I had a 07 N/A wagon and with about 70K before Sandy ate her. My exhaust was prestine.

I have a friend with a '11 sedan, his exhaust is rusting badly.

I have a '13 with 5K miles on it thus far and see some light signs of rust already.

They just don't make them like they used too.

What if any modifications did you make to make the brz muffler fit? Pics if possible would be cool

Look on page 10 of this thread, it pretty much shows you everything I did to make it fit. I am NOT leaving it like that, I am getting it redone, and the BRZ muffler Cerma Krome Coated like my header from: www.rallisportracing.com The 'S' pipe that the local muffler shop did is an inferior job and they welded a 'J' hook to my BRZ muffler that is also coming off the muffler when I get it coated.

Here's a short sound clip of my custom made magnaflow muffler. I've had it installed since November '12. Not the prettiest looking or loudest but I like the subtle growl. Perfect for my DD.

It does not sound bad at all, where is the leak at? What part of the exhaust, before the muffler I guess. Yeah, nice camera too!

I did that at first but then soot started to build up on the heat shield from the leak. And leaving that leak can also ruin your exhaust gasket.

News This is the 2013 BRZ mid-pipe!

This is what it's stamped on the OEM BRZ resonator. It's the same size as the apple strudel, LoL !

If you look closely, I swapped the old rusted OEM bolts on the BRZ muffler with the FULL stainles steel bolts & nuts.

This pipe nicely Cerma Krome Coated, may be just what I needed. I am still short about 3" from the or rather to the 2nd CAT pipe! it appears that our little cars are longer than the BRZ/SR-S huh!

This is a bird's eye view of the mid-pipe.

News Add 3" inches to BRZ mid-pipe and you are GOOD!

To be CLEAR, the BRZ mid-pipe can be used but you will be short about 3" inches to the 2nd CAT pipe. But it will bolt right on the OEM hangers from the BRZ muffler to the mid-pipe hanger, all the same as the stock Impreza 2.0i. The BRZ mid-pipe would have to be modified by ADDING 3" inches on the 2nd CAT side of the pipe.
