Default Ah, another car won't start thread. 2000 RS

Yesterday morning my car wouldn't start. Ran perfectly before that, but in the morning I couldn't get it going, but after about 5-8min and multiple trys at cranking, it finally started and I drove all day no problem.

Last night I parked the car for about 2 hours, and when I came back to leave, it started no problem and I drove for about 10secs and then it shutoff and I haven't been able to start it since.

-Car runs fine once it is running.
-Fuel was a bit on the low side, but still not empty. I put more fuel in anways, didn't help.
-I replaced the coilpack with a spare that I had, it was a touch bit corroded on the mounting bolts, but generally seemed ok.
-The car cranks over fine so that isn't the problem.

Since it just completely shut off, leads me to believe its not cylinder related, spark plugs, wires, etc...

No CEL, any ideas on possible causes and how to test it?

Thanks in advance.

I can't hear the fuel pump prime... Pretty sure I heard it make noises in the past. Maybe that could be it?

If you turn the key to just before starting you should hear it prime. No prime no pump. Time for a new one. Id say your on the right track.

Anyone have a fuel pump they would like to sell? Or possibly the full fuel pump assembly?

I also have my old rs pump. Pay for shipping or come pick it up and it's yours.

Another quick little test you can do is remove the cover over the fuel pump assembly and give the tank a couple whacks with a hammer or something. The pump can get kinda stuck and giving it a hit can unstick it before starting.

I've got a pump assembly sitting in my 98 forester that's getting parted out. At my shop in Langley if you want to make the drive.

I took out my stock STI pump last weekend and swapped it for a Walbro 255. It's only got 30,000km on it in very new condition!! If this will fit your car you can have it for cheap!!

bump!

Zefy came up huge and had a pump for me right away!

BUT, the problem isn't fixed. There is no voltage going to the fuel pump now. When I 'hot-wire' the pump it works and the car runs fine, but for some reason voltage isn't getting to the pump.

The fuel pump relay works fine (I tested it)
I checked all the fuses under the hood and dash, all OK.

I haven't had a chance test to check for voltage at the relay. Are there any fuel pump fuses anywhere, or sensors, other connectors or anything that can cause no voltage at the pump?

sounds like you're on the right track though. There are only a couple things that control the fuel pump on that car. As far as I know the main relay and the fuel pump relay get their power from the same source so if the car runs then it has to do with the pump side of things. Either the relay or the wiring to/from the relay or pump.

That's only like 6 wires. Start looking for pinches, broken connectors, all that good stuff. Or you could be bad ass and hardwire the pump to a switch that you have to turn on all racecar style.

Fixed.

Turned out being the fuel pump relay. I test it with a meter and with 12v on it, it properly closed the circuit, but I found out after swapping with the blower relay, it must have not passed enough current or something since it didn't work. Bought a new relay and car runs perfect again.

Thanks for your help.
