Default Plz help!! Power Steering Problem

Hi everyone,

My name is Giovanni and I'm in the Air Force. I'm stationed in Japan and I have a 2000 bug eyed wrx that was converted to a STI ... I just got back from a 6 week training course and saw oil under my car ... Upon investigation I found out that a tensioner for my pulleys is about to break and a line that is behind my grille that's connected to my power steering reservoir is leaking. The line seems to be a cooling line or something. The fluid runs through it to cool down then it goes back to the reservoir. Plz help me someone. It's my only transportation and I have kids. Ill add pics later on when I get off work. Thanks in advance.

It's causing my car to starve for power steering fluid I guess because when I try to turn the wheel it vibrates

There wasn't a single question in this thread.

You identified that the pulley is breaking. Replace it. But the tensioner for the belt that goes on the power steering pump is the alternator assembly, it moves up and down to tension the belt. The belt tensioner that is just an idler pulley is for the AC unit.

Also, if you see the line, and you see where it is leaking then just fix it. New hose clamps or a new line.

What's the question here?

It's the ac one that your talking about. Since the tensioner semi broke I think the vibrations from it being loose caused the line to rub on the clamp and leak. I just want to buy a new tensioner and a new line. But I need part #s or something, I guess I'm just asking can someone point me to a website or be so kind as to look in their book for the car and give me the necessary info or even sell me the parts if they have em?

Those tensioners break all the time. You can find one at your local dealership. I like rockauto.com for parts.

What clamp are you talking about?

The tensioner being bad and the PS are probably problems that are independent of one another.

I have power steering lines. Which one(s) do you need? Snap some pictures and post up

It's a metal line that his little wires wrapped all around it. I guess that's for better heat rejection. It's like a loop right behind the grille on the left side. I think once I post the pics you'll totally understand the situation lol ... Thank u for helping me
