Default Wing Swap

I'm going to put an STi wing on my 2007 2.5i, and I read somewhere that I need to replace my trunk struts or torsion bar because of the extra weight the wing adds. Is this true?? My 2.5i has a stock wing that looks like the WRX wing...

You don't *have* to, but otherwise it won't stay open when it's up

The springs for a trunk with the small WRX wing will work with either wingless or an STI wing, I've done both. It will stay open even with the heavier wing, you just need a bit more effort to open it, and take care not to slam it shut too hard.
