Default AMG Intake - Subaru Impreza 2.5i

Hi guys. I just did a prototype for an AMG intake for our 2008-2010 2.5i impreza. The prototype was done last week and the company wants to launch the intake during Import Face Off which is taking place in SoCal on Jan. 15, 2012. AMG is allowing me to put a video of the recorded sound of the intake on the forum. I've been running this intake and it's not throwing any warning lights off nor has the car stalled. I have noticed quicker throttle response and power difference in the higher RPM range. The sound is much much deeper and louder in person. My crappy cell phone video doesn't capture the full intensity of the intake.

The intake will be offered in Polished and Black finishes. So far I haven't gotten any pricing information. AMG said they'll reveal that information at Import Face Off.

Here's a video of how the prototype sounds:

Why didn't you show us what the intake looks like in the video. What kind of filter system is used and are there any dunk numbers. Not that an intake should do much. Did you see any increase in fuel consumption or is it getting better mpg?

I understand putting this video up to start hype, but I would've waited till you got stone cold facts. Unless you can prove that it..
A.) Doesn't make the motor run rich(dyno sheets).
B.) Helps power and/or throttle response(dyno sheets).
C.) Helps or hurts your MPG(again something you can get off a dyno sheet).
...
If it isn't on the positive side of all 3 things than I wouldn't expect many purchases. A video of the car with it on and with the dyno sheets in it would be even better..anyone can photoshop a dynosheet to say what they want it to. Hope this product works well.

Ditto. Post dyno results and you'll really start generating some buzz.

Hey guys sorry I've been off the forum for a bit. I talked to the guy that did the R&D for the intake and he said he will be joining the forum and answering questions soon. I know that he had scheduled a dyno day for me sometime before Import Face Off, however at this moment I don't know the date of the dyno testing. I'll send him a text message reminding him to join the forum so he can provide everyone will answer's to their question's.

It might also help if he read/skimmed the intake thread in the NA forum so that he understands the problems that NA folks have had with intakes. That way he can prep for the questions (running lean, etc) that he is sure to get.

Sound will generate a few sales, but a documented performance boost with the data to show that the intake is safe and compatible with the stock tune will really start a buzz. That is what we have been missing for the 08+ NA cars. A decent price will help too.

by AMG did he mean the Mercedes Benz in house tuning company? Also Im guessing the intake was either non-existant or not all that good since they never responeded. bummer. Us NA would love a good intake
