So I'm moving to Manhattan Kansas in July. School me on the area. Looking forward to meeting new Subaru and motorsports enthusiasts.

Manhattan sucks...

Little town in the middle of nowhere.

If you get into Kansas City, you'll find much more Subaru guys and meets.

There is a race track in Topeka (1 hr) from Manhattan. Other than that, I can't think of anything else.

Don't listen to the negativity. I was born and raised manhattan. I have been all over the US and still hold manhattan as one of the top 5 places to live. It's in the flint hills, so it's not all flat and boring like most of kansas. Low crime rate, one if the most stable and thriving economies in the US, and a friendly community. kansas State University is here which has a great athletics department. The football and basketball teams are always worth watching.
Along with the college comes a lot of positive things. money into the economy, new things to do, a lot of stores and places to eat that otherwise wouldn't exist... And if your younger, aggieville is a blast. A strip of road in the middle of town with a lot of bars, stores, restaurants, and nightlife.
Other than that, there is a small 1/8th mile drag strip just outside of town, a big army base (Fort Riley) is also here.
With the base comes a lot if car enthusiasts. There is a page on Facebook for local car meets, and there's even a local kansas Subaru owners forum.

Let me know if you have any questions I can recommend places to eat, things to do, and even get you in touch with people in town.

My step father owns the only local powder coating business... Through him I've gotten to know a lot of people in the automotive industry here.

There is a good group in Kansas City. KCSubaru can be a good source for events within driving distance. I lived on Fort Riley for about six months and drove back to KC every weekend. The drive was not terrible. If you ever make your way up to KC shoot me a PM. There are not that many GC Imprezas running around here so you will stick out.

So I'm in Kansas City, new to the Subaru scene, absolutely love this 02 WRX. I'm curious though, can anyone in the area suggest a reputable and affordable shop in the area in case I run into trouble? My dealings with the dealership have been wonderful so far, just curious about a good shop that isn't a dealership. Thanks! Sorry if I broke any rules, my first post.
