Default Blew trans up, need help! (pics)

07 FXT 5 speed

I stripped out third gear. My question is, what is the thing that third gear is meshed with? It stripped out alot of the teeth on this thing when it went. Anyone know what it's called or have a Part number for me?! Please help me out I wanna get this thing back on the road....

I believe it's called the speedo gear, but is it available by itself or do I need to get the whole shaft to get it? If I do, anyone direct me to where I can get a P/N for that shaft. Couldn't find it on opposedforces..

The speedo gear is the helical (bolt thread-like) gear in upper center of your photo. It looks fine. The two shaft assemblies in the unit are referred to as Main shaft and Pinion shaft. The 3rd gear on the main shaft is the toasted one but, since gears are usually sold in sets or pairs, the mating gear on the pinion shaft will also need replacement. Unfortunately, due to the combined 3rd/4th gear design of the pinion shaft you will need to replace both 3rd and 4th gear sets. It appears Subaru sells the 3rd, 4th and synchronizer as a set as shown here: (see item 25).

So the gear that is on the top shaft in the photo (pinion shaft i believe) that meshes with 3rd gear is 4th gear? Because whatever meshes with third gear that's on the shaft on the top is also destroyed. Sorry, I appreciate the help so much, I'm just a little confused lol

3rd and 4th gear are a single 'spool piece' (the opposed forces diagram shows this). Which means if 3rd gear is bad, you have no choice but to replace 3rd and 4th gear sets.

I understand that I need to replace both, but maybe I'm just looking at the picture wrong... I'm sorry I'm so confused. So I need the 3rd and fourth gear sets, the synchros, and some seals. But you see the top shaft. The gear that sits above and meshes with the stripped out almost chrome gear. It has teeth missing, so it needs to be replaced. Are you saying that that piece to the left of the bolt- thread looking speedo gear is 4th gear?
