Default Bluetooth mic with aftermarket HU

If you replace the bluetooth equipped factory HU in a '13 WRX with an aftermarket HU, can you still use the factory bluetooth mic, or do you have to add one compatible with the aftermarket HU ? Can you use the steering wheel controls for bluetooth ?

Sorry if this has been covered, I did search and couldn't find a definitive answer.

I believe you need to install a new bluetooth mic, but they do sell adapters to use your factory steering wheel controls.

You'll need a mic for your new HU from that company. Some HUs have adapters

for steering wheel controls.

Steering wheel controls are fine with the proper adapter. The Canadian Sport-Tech models have an aftermarket Pioneer head unit already installed and the wheel controls work fine, but they installed Pioneer's bluetooth mic (clipped to the headliner) instead of using a Subaru one.

I was wondering the same thing. Wondering why you can't just wire up the factory mic.

Has anyone tried this? or does anyone have an aftermarket bluetooth installed?

Im looking to buy a new-er WRX with this, but a few buddies of mine that have subaru's stereos say they are terrible. i'd hate to install a new HU and have the bluetooth portion suck.
