either way that pos turbo you have on your car cost maybe 150 on ebay. if its branded its probably tbo because thats the brand "dick on ksl" resells. those turbos wont make 300 on a 2.5 much less your little 2.0. hell even if it was a good brand name 16g or even an oem one it would only make 260 on a hybrid 2.5 @18 psi.

i still dont understand what your complaint is exactly either. is it that your manual boost controler doesnt work? is it that your turbo is a piece of ****? if you have a manual boost controler its not richards fault that the car doesnt make boost. what kind of mbc is it anyway? or is it ebay as well?

evo3 16g's are a completely different animal than what you have on your car btw, so im not sure what youre looking at them for.
It came with the car already! I am complaint because I've seen and heard people making 290+ on my set-up.
And I didn't like Richards service. Wasn't talkative and didn't explain anything. I know he isn't the mechanic but he should have an idea maybe what it could be. But he just said "idk what it is sorry"

And it's a Cobb 3 port electronic boost controller.

I'll give that a try! And ya I don't even get full boost till 4700 RPMS.

Do I have to retune with the MBC?

I think it could be my boost controller, but I replaced it 2 months ago. So the only thing I think is the turbo it's self.

4700 full bostt can still be either the wastegate/turbo or the boost controller. If the controller is stuck open it's going to let all teh air out of the system causing it to take for ever to spool.

I really think it's the turbo. That is pretty consistant to what I have see with crappy turbos.

example: nothing, nothing, nothing, then WAM 5k boost!!!! You can't tune around that. another expensive thing you can try is go external. If it's the wastegate that is screwed spend another 550 and weld the damn thing shut and put a 38mm up pipe and wastegate on. win win.

Agree Richard is kind of quiet but whenever I ask him a question while he is tuning my cars or I start to talk to him, he talks and he answers questions, I've had 2 street tunes (just to drive the car for a few days after modifications) and 2 pro tunes, and I feel his work is outstanding.. Just my 2 cents..

my money is on wastegate stuck open and or not tightened and leaking.

and i dont know who youre talking to or what fuel they're running but aint nobody making 290 on a 2.0 and a 16g. not on pump and not up here at least.

i know dick and even ziptie at one point were claiming that it was possible. a good friend of mine almost bought one of those dick turbos but luckily got his deposit back and got a bpt 18gxtr with a 10cm for his 2.5 and it only made 290.

dont let peoples crazy stories fool you. lots of places will overpromise and under deliver just to sell you a product or more products.

You should just buy a used VF39 and call it good. $300 for around 250-290whp and tq. and is way more reliable than a DICK turbo

Ya I'm looking for something like that, but wanna see if this turbo is really bad which I think it is. Because the guy I bought the car said my car pulled better more quickly and more response before he switched to the 16g

Dick was swapping Ebay cartridges into used vf39's and "rebuilding them". So as a heads up make sure it's not a "rebuilt" vf39.

I think the conclusion is, buy an oem vf-39 or evo 16g and get it tuned. Dont expect to make 300 whp. You will make what you make. If you want 300 whp take it to Jason Cleverly or 907 bum or zip tie or wherever. Tell them you want 300 whp no matter what it takes tuning wise and tell them you will sign a waiver saying that if anything happens to your car that they are NOT responsible. Im sure someone will get you there.... for a couple pulls.
