Only a matter of time.

I had a very nice set of these W25's that I sold a year and a half ago. I got a deal on them and thought I would use them but decided to sell them. I was also speculating a little but maybe a bit ahead of the curve on the DAVCS W25 heads. I remember that you commented on some scratches on the deck surface! The funny thing was the guy I sold them to tried to cut corners on his build and not surface them before hand. The one that did not seal well was the one without the scratches. I told him that I would not have used them without surfacing them first! He learned!!

It's too bad that Subaru does not make any (to my knowledge) a D25 type combustion chamber DAVCS head!

Please make sure your customer adds at least some 272 duration cams to those after you're done with them so that they can really maximize the flow potential!

Do the Z20 heads have the hemi shaped D25 type combustion chamber? When you say open up, you mean the ports correct? The D25 combustion chambers are actually lower in volume than the B25 and W25 combustion chambers. it's 49-50 cc's of the D25 vs 56 cc's B25 and W25 heads. The hemi shaped combustion chambers of the D25's vs the penta shaped combustion chambers of the B&W25's are the reason they are more efficient in their flow and burn cycle and usually more desirable. The downside for some is the lower volume of the CC will raise the compression ratio but a good tuner and good fuel can exploit the higher CR!

Unfortunately not. They are just about perfectly square shaped, I have them for sale in my threads if you wanna look at pictures,

But you could get him to open up the chambers to replicate the D25.

As for the ports I'm pretty sure the Z20's differ from the D25. But I haven't put them side by side.

I think Fuji has seen and worked with them? And I remember Micah saying he had a set(s) before..

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks, I already have a nice set of PnP'd D25 heads on my current XTI build so I am not in the market, you can see my heads in an earlier post here. If I do another build I would use the D25 heads again!

I haven't worked on those Z20 heads, but i have a very good idea how they are going to be like after porting

From the pictures the chambers do look round, but squares off. Hard to see fully with the carbon build up.

I'm not sure which model. The JDM Impreza STi runs W20 heads (dual avcs).

'10 Legacy GT E25. Nothing new. Intake porting is going to be limited on going large. I could possibly go the DD shape. Subaru really thinned it out resembling B25 heads when i looked at the intake runners through the valvetrain. However i do like the little cam driven oil pump on the passenger head. These wont be ported, sorry. Maybe when i get a set for myself.

The gear driven pump is a scavenge pump used to get the oil from the turbo back to the pan.

Yup that's what the pump is for. The valves are still the same as before. They're not flat face.

Not oversized valves on the W25 heads? Will be curious about flow. Had mine flowed before and after +1 valves.

No oversized valves. They will still flow good numbers; 280 cfm. I've flowed head with +1mm valve before and they average around 10 cfm more.

This is right after porting. Getting a radius valve job with +1mm valves. WRX S20 heads with DD ports and chamber flare.
