Default 2000 Forester head gasket seaping, never hot

I've tracked down a minimal coolant leak to the driver side head gasket. 88000 miles on this car and I'm considering my options. If this is such a common problem is there any chance Subaru will take care of it? I hear there is a Subaru additive that may be effective. Haven't done timing belt yet and my son plans on keeping the car quite a while. My hebrew blood makes it hard for me to part with the dollars, but I would like to do it right, one time only. Any help appreciated.
Erik

It is my understanding that SOA has a 100k mile warrantee on headgaskets specifically. Check around, but I seem to remember it being a TSB item.

There's a 100,000 mile head gasket warranty?

That 100000 mile warranty ran out 5 years ago. Its not the miles its the years that got me. Looking at about 2200 for head gaskets, timing belt, water pump etc. Anybody recommend a good shop in the Southern Cal area?
