If only stock exhaust came with bigger tips...or those trapezoidal ones.

I know Im late to this party(deployment does that) but after reading through this (awesome thread but Ive got carpal tunnel now!) I decided on the Invidia Q300 and catted dp. Went off to Boston Motorsport and Rallysport Direct (comparo shopping) and noticed something that made me stop and post this. Every pic Ive seen here (and BMS) of the Q300 shows a set of "boxy" mufflers (I dig) yet on rallysports page the pic has a set of more rounded mufflers. Now aside from asthetics is there a difference between the original Q300 and this, what I can only guess is this is an updated version? Anyone running this new version with the "rounded" mufflers? Im just concerned with a potential sound difference. Hell, Im not even sure the pic on rsd is correct as I checked Invidias home page(which is as basic as basic gets) and their site still shows the boxy mufflers. If its just asthetics it wont make me change my mind. If theres a sound dif then I will go another route.
Oh, not sure its in my info at left but '11 sedan.

This past weekend my friends and I installed the TurboXS cbe to my '13 wrx. All went pretty well without many hangups. I just started hearing some rattling tonight on lower rpms, but I'm thinking it's likely rattling form the heat shield like others have noted. I figure I'll wait it out to see if it corrects itself, if not I'll look into it.

However, the tips seem to be riding a little too high. In most other people's photos they have a decent amount of clearance, mine are basically touching. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get it lowered a bit? I'm a bit of a car novice, but I'm thinking maybe it's to do with the rubber hangars needing to be adjusted somehow?

Direct link to image as it's a bit large.

I just got done helping my friend install his turbo xs recently as well. It was sitting right on the heat shield so I just loosened the 4 bolts that hold the heat shield on and pushed the shield towards the body with a ratchet extension, held it there and then toughened the bolts back. As far as the tips go, that is all in the donut gasket on the muffler flange. Have someone press down firmly on the tips down while you tighten it.

That might be part of it then, we had to jerry-rig getting the axleback on in a way. We couldn't get a gasket on the flange, seemed just a tad too small and couldn't get it on. And maybe I missed something obvious but we ended up using the stock springbolts to hookup the midpipe to the downpipe, and at the axleback we actually ended up using part of the springbolts to bolt it together as the other set we couldn't get. Not necessarily the proper equipment but everything hooked up without any further issue and haven't had any issues but the tips.

Essentially, loosen up the bolts, press down on the tips and re-tigthen? Thanks for the help

I had that system for a short period when it was first out on the tips were right on the rear valence. For me it was the left tips the right were fine. In that case it's just a matter d loose if the right side bolt until eah side is even. Worked out for me

The stock spring bolts still fit in the mid pipe/Dp connection. I put the spring bolts through the turbo xs mid pipe (without spring on it) first, then turned them so that the shoulder of the bolt would wear down slightly and fit through the flange better, then put the spring on it. The spring bolts on the rear are a similar issue, you might have to take a small file and clean out the mounting holes on the flange so that the spring bolt can slide through the flange holes. A dab of oil on the shoulder of the bolts would help.

Hey guys. Just wondering if anybody has had an experience with OBX exhausts?

If so, how is the fit and finish and how well does it hold up? I see that they come with a lifetime warranty which I like.

This is the exhaust I'm looking at getting at the moment so any feedback would be appreciated.

The picture you see on RSD's website is correct. I purchased my Q300 from them. The mufflers are oval in shape, not square or boxy. You're gonna really like how your car sounds with the Q300 and catted DP. You'll like how stage 2 feels even more. Enjoy!

+1 I have the same setup here, I've had mine for two years and it has oval mufflers, the q300 is really popular over here and I've never seen a different style other than mine. Sounds great with a Catted dp, with the stock dp I thought it was a little quiet but still sounded great.

Ordered an ARK system for my '13 STI sedan last week. Got it installed to find that I had 0 exhaust flow to the left side of my car. Took everything off to find a fabrication error inside the Y-Pipe that completely restricted flow to that side creating some nasty back pressure and heat. I called ARK to find their customer service absolutely gross; they refused to exchange the system but after about an hour of yelling finally agreed to take it back. However, the box it shipped in was damaged. The sales manager refused to send me a shipping box because and I quote, "that was not their problem". BUYER BEWARE!

Yeah that y pipe design is poop anyways. For what that thing costs they could have designed that part better for sure, even though it probably doesn't effect performance much. Who wants to see smoke coming out of one side when it's cold outside.

So I'm in the market for an exhaust again... Hate invidia, not sure why and like quad tip. How does TurboXS match up to the competition now adays? I really wish Cobb would release their sedan exhaust but who knows how long that will take... Any good advice?

Turbo XS sounds great I had it for the hatch. It's on the loud side but has the perfect rumble in my opinion

Wow ARK sure is crap. I'm not sure if you guys know but ARK started up designing parts for Hyundai's and Kia's... don't confuse them with the highly respectable company ARC.

I just got a P&L catback exhaust on my 2011 WRX sedan. I'll have a video review out very soon. I wanted the loudest best sounding quad tipped exhaust for my car and without a doubt the P&L is just that. It rumbles loudly and doesn't drone one bit. Perfect Subaru boxer sound imo.

I just had a turboxs put on my 11 hatch. It's definitely a deep rumble. Louder than what I thought it would be. Quiets down a bit when warmed up, then it's fairly nice. Still going to put in some sound deadener in the hatch. For the price it's worth it.

All I see is people buying Q300s. I can't see the quality in that system, am I missing something other than the bandwagon? I understand a CBE is just piping but I do believe quality as function for performance. I wish Akrapovic would make something for the STI, but they refused. Who really makes the highest quality stuff out there, subjective opinion welcome.

Nameless is the only exhaust that seems to be worth the price and has various muffler and tip options. I'm going that route after I get my suspension done.

To much drone with the V2 Q300 for the Hatch. My friend has the V1 and it's damn near stock sounding until you get on it. The V2 will drone like crazy with cold starts drones driving down the highway, decel drones like crazy and don't get me started if your going up a hill at 65. Anywhere from 2.2K - 3.2K = pain if your windows are up. Windows down it still drones but its not as bad err noticeable.

I will say one positive thing about it though. It sounded awesome when you got on it

I sold it at a loss after having it for a month to a guy that ended up having it about 2 weeks and then sold it to another person.
