Thumbs up Wheel Rush: Part 1

Help me figure out which wheels to go with next! Ideally they'll mostly be used for posing with some track use. The stock wheels aren't worthy for the track or summertime stuntin'. If you want to suggest other wheels, that's fine. Anything bigger than 17" is my preference.

RaceComp's car has BBS CH-R. They're actually for sale, so PM Myles and ask him how much he wants. You'll get a better deal than TireRack for certain, since he knows people there and they're used.

I voted based on 17 or 18" diameters. Don't go 19, you ricer!

I agree no 19, 17 or 18 and a width of 8 to 9.5. The actual wheel choice up to you lol.

Interesting you guys pick Mach V. They're the most troublesome set I've seen concerning 18x9.5.

Hatin' on 19".

Thanks for the feedback! I forgot about RaceComp's wheels.

No 17". Too little. I want shorter sidewall.

I believe they rubbed on the Wicked Awesome wheel with a fat enough tire. But if you get JDM coilovers yo! then you might not rub the spring perch.

This.

Plus anything more than a 255 will be overkill for this car. I see some people putting 285's. Im tempted to tell them to just go buy a steam roller.

Agreed. Not down with 265 on this car. 19 lbs at 9.5 width and 255 tire sounds mighty appealing...

I appreciate the concavity of the Traklite Angles.

I think the ASGA Spirit wheels would complement my goal of a BRZ STI-looker.

I guess I'm still confused as to why you guys don't like 19" wheels? Your beloved BRZ STI Concept is on 19" wheels. With a little drop, 19" looks like the most comfortable fit with low profile tires. Low profile to me is 35 or 30 sidewall. Otherwise 18" with 40 sidewall is okay.

No clue why anyone would want 17" except for weight, so maybe "super function", but I've provided some decently-weighed wheels that are all bigger than 17". The harder part is finding light performance tires. With the 19" I can get Michelin Pilot Super Sports that weigh 21 lbs. At 17", tires are just fatty and heavy. 18" has a lot of heavy tires, but the Conti Extreme Contact DW's do pretty well overall.

Mach V's would have been awesome as an easily accessible track DD wheel but too bad about the front clearance issues.

I would vote for the traklite as the alternative favorite to the Mach V's.
The traklites are wider than the alternatives and weigh less and good and cheap.

It seems true for the FRS / BRZ that wheels are just not in great offset/size combos for us. Oh well give it time and they should show up more.

Because they're just selling us their WRX wheels.

Without going super expensive/exotic (carbon fiber or forged magnesium) how much weight can a good pair of rims shave? Are we talking 5 pounds per wheel?

The Enkei RPF1's are pretty light at reasonable sizes. 15 lbs - 17 lbs per wheel compared to 20.1 lbs for the stock 17x7 +48 BRZ wheels. The biggest culprit of weight seems to be the tires at 21.3 lbs for 215/45R17. Atrocious.

Unfortunately I think RPF1's are as ugly as priestly sin.

I hope you've priced tires for the 18"+ wheels.. They get pretty expensive.

I've grown even more disgusted with RPF1's recently. I didn't think that would ever be possible.
