I don't write for exhaust because I have one done on my car but it all depends on the person. Putting off the court date won't work Anyways at least for the state because they tend to frown upon missing court dates. Like stated above it sucks but that's the price you gotta pay to play

You'd be surprised. I managed to get a court date rescheduled twice on a ticket a state trooper wrote me and he didn't show up.

However, I'm more than certain he didn't live within a mile of the court house so I doubt my luck would be as good this time around. Just annoying as hell because I've rolled past MANY AACP cops without them even so much as looking my way and then BOOM I get this.

Probably going to end up paying it since I don't get any points from it.

Thanks for the input everybody.

The law is ridiculous. A Harley that can be heard for miles is legal but a car that is ANY amount louder than stock is illegal. All those bro-trucks that sound like crap are also legal. It's not sound control, it's behavior control.

If cops spent less time writing tickets for this crap and enforced things like red lights and stop signs people would actually be safer.

My thoughts exactly. It was such a petty ticket too. Given the area (Glen Burnie [Dirty]), there are SO many vehicles rolling around with "illegally" modified exhausts it's ridiculous.

Fairly certain the cop is that much of a douche and/or was having a bad day. I'm waiting to hear back from a couple of sources as to what I can do with this situation because on one side I probably could go to court and fight it asking things such as how he can prove it was louder than stock and how what I had was NOT from the factory and on the other side I could just eat the $70 and be done with it.

just pay it. Unless you are unemployed, a $70 ticket falls into the not-worth-taking-off-work-to-go-to-court category along with red light and speed camera tickets

No denying that. Just sucks because I somewhat frequent the GB area and would hate having to hold my breath just about everywhere I drive.

Like I said though, chances are that I'll just end up paying it.

Personally I prefer the fine, it's only $70 and I dont have to go through the hassle of swapping my exhaust twice. I hate loud exhaust on my car anyways, but the fine is way easier because you aren't required to fix it.

I got a speeding ticket on my way to VIR a couple weekends ago. It was on VA-58 west-bound, guy clocked me within probably 150yds of the 55mph sign (transitioning from 45mph limit). I had already started bumping the cruise control up.

The officer (Brodnax PD) put the wrong date on the ticket. There are two spots for the date (Date of Offense and Arrest Date) and he put 4-15-13 in both spots; he actually stopped me on the 14th. He did put the correct day ("Sun") in the Day of Week block.

Is it worth trying my luck in court on that technicality? I can easily prove that at 1:15pm on 4-15-13 I was at VIR, so I couldn't have been 90mi east on VA-58.

I don't particularly care about the ticket, but going to court would be a nice excuse to get out of work for a day. I'm not going to waste my time "fighting" it, though, if I can't be pretty certain that the incorrect date would clear me. I've heard of folks using that sort of error on a ticket to get the ticket dismissed, but the fact that he wrote the correct day makes me wonder if the court would drop it or not.

Modified exhaust on motorcycles are not legal in MD. They just normally don't get pulled over for it. One of the C&C guys got pulled over on the ICC about a month ago for the exhaust on his Harley.

Actually, if I had gotten a repair order instead of a ticket all I would have to do when I go to an inspection station is drop in the silencer and boom, I pass, done deal.

I'm talking about stock exhausts on these loud Harley-type bikes. I've never seen one pulled over either.

Stay away from Glen Bernie around 4:00 PM. Especially Rt.2/Ritchie Highway. AACP douchefag in car 415 is a blood thirsty wannabe RoboCop on a power trip.

Happy hunting because my car has an N1 style exhaust.

Stock Harley's aren't loud at all. They are actually whisper quiet. There are only about 3 Harley's in existence with stock exhaust though...
