Default 05 STi Headlight Replacement

So my 05 STi has the seemingly common fogged out headlight problem and I would like to replace it. Is there any difference between the regular WRX headlight non-HID and the HID STi housing? Could I transfer my ballast on to a non-HID light so I don't have to spend $500 for a new assembly?

Yes....suck it up and buy a new one. Or open yours, dry it out, and seal it back up. There are many threads in the lighting forum on how to remove and open the headlights.

Yes, the housings are different and new headlight housings aren't cheap. I would follow Unabombers advice and open them up to dry them out and then get some sealant to reseal when you put them back together to avoid them fogging again.
I know the process of baking and splitting the housings is really intimidating, at least I know it was for me, but it's actually very simple and easy to do. Just take your time and it will come out great.

Oh well that's a bummer. I don't think I have to split it, I think it is the outside of the lens oxidizing. I'm new to this forum so I will do so more searching on the best sealant and way to clear this lens up.

Thanks for your responses though!

If its just the outside clouding get a 3M headlight clearing kit. Works well if you take your time. They're like $20 at Harbor Freight. You usually have to redo it every couple years, but its worth it.
We thought you had moisture inside the housing. Hence the baking and splitting.

Thanks so much jm02466! I used the kit with the protector for $13 on Amazon and it worked great! Looks good as new!
