Anybody else remove their roof racks for mpg's? Should probably do the same for the mud flaps, but I just made them and want to keep some ruggedness attached to the car.

I should, i really should but I can't get myself to do it. I think it loses too much outdoor appeal without the roof rack. I did add a fair in though that seems to help. Mud flaps are the same deal.

Yeah I have a fairing too, but if it means a little more cash in my pocket I guess outdoorsy aesthetics can suffer a little bit. Lol

So I recently had my tires replaced (backed into a broken curb while parallel parking and slashed a sidewall) and then about 2 months later (just this past weekend), had my brake rotors and pads replaced when I felt a bad shimmy in the steering wheel when braking at highway speeds. Cause of that was a warped rotor.

Car has 37K miles on her and I do brake fairly hard. Lots of stop and go traffic in northern NJ for my commute.

Thing is, that she seems to be riding a little rough. Also the steering wheel seems slightly off-line when I hold it to keep her straight.

Any ideas? Wheels out of balance or the alignment is off? Tires have also been rotated recently.

Only other thing I did was put in a K&N air filter (regular box style, none cone) but that wouldn't have any effect on the ride, would it?

Only thing I can thing of is alignment. Did you balance the new tires when they were installed?

I get mine aligned and balanced every 2-3 months and it rides as smooth as the day I got it.

Place I take my car (STS Tire and Auto in West Orange, NJ...GREAT place) does a computerized balance when the new tires were installed.

I'm taking it up tomorrrow AM for them to look at.

Fortunately, I'll have another Subie to borrow for work in the form of my dad's 2005 Outback.

Im rolling on the BC Racing BR Series coilovers. Wanted to go lower, there is more room to spin down but the bottom of the shock cartridge is nearly touching another part. I dont know the technical names of suspension parts but its circled below.
If you wanted to go lower then I am youd have to get on some extreme lows.

Yea that part is the axle trust me you don't want that to rip open it will sling grease everywhere. Although you can get the bottom of the coilover very close to the boot. On my car I have about 10mm of clearance and no problems. On Bc's you can adjust height 2 ways one way being by the collars and the other by messing with the spring preload but the latter isn't recommend as people say it might reduce the life of the coil-over. I know plenty of people that screw with preload to get real low and they never had any problems. Although the ride is a little bit bouncier.

Oh right. The axle. Brain fart haha. I'm running right up to the protector boot right now but not touching it. I have heard that I can adjust the preload to get lower but I think for now ill be happy where am until I get bored. Thanks for the info

And she's back and riding good as new. One of the new rotors was warped out of the box so the machining couldn't help it. Also one of the tires was out of balance.

My BR Series are almost maxed out (rings touching), I have about 1/4" left of threads on the front and back

I'm tempted to go lower... Unfortunately I'm already grinding the light bar on the roads/driveways daily.

Hey has anyone tried the Nitto Motivo on our cars? Do they like rolling around on those shoes?

I couldn't find a buyer, so parents just keeping the OBS..... Opted to use the OBS as a Daily, and the WRX as a weekend driver.

today I painted oem wheels white just to see how it looks.. Kinda like it..

$6 for 2 cans of paint and $3 for sand paper.. Not too bad..

35% is perfect IMO, you can see through it but it adds a cool effect to the car. JUST dark enough so people can't look at something on the floor of your car too. (If you have black interior)

Nice good to know. Seems that's what I've found from looking at tons of pics. I don't want it really dark so I can't see too much, mostly just dark enough to keep cool and keep purse snatchers at bay (I don't have on ha).

I got in touch with two places. One for 250 and one for 300. I'm hoping to spend 200 at most, which I know will be tough for quality tint. But I just don't have the biggest of subaru budgets.

Put on new Enkei wheels and Nitto Motivos just in time for a rain storm.

Can I ask what size wheels and tires you're running? Been MIA for a looooong time but I did my first autox this past weekend and it's rekindled an old flame. I'm currently on Epic lowering springs but want to upgrade to coilovers. I'm also looking at the BC BR's for daily with the occasional autox weekend. Was thinking about RPF1's but not sure what size. And for tires, possibly Hankook Ventus RS3's, but again not sure about size.

Nope. After using Plastdip for over a year on that car, I've gotten tired of how plastidip cant stay clean, also some of the spots were hard to peel off.

I may steal this for my winter wheels (stock rims). Could look cool in the snow!
