Default 2011 wrx - whirring noise when clutch is fully depressed

Recently, when i first start the car in the morning. I hear a whirring noise whenever i fully depressed the clutch. Its not very loud, and i have to turn off the radio and be driving under 25mph to hear it.
It goes away after about 5 mins of driving.

Is this just the clutch fluids warming up? Sounds like theres some sort of contact. I read somewhere its just the oil in the synchros are too thick and it causes them to grind?

I get it too, if you listen when the whirring goes away it gives off a very quiet sound like its releasing air, idk what it is but all the wrxs ive been in do it.

It's the throw out bearing. There are videos of it on youtube, other threads about it on here, and plenty of replaced throw out bearings. I have the same noise too but it's only occasionally so I can't duplicate it to get it replaced. Everything seems to be fine with my clutch so I'm not going to get too worried about it unless I start having a problem. I've mentioned it to the stealership before so at the very least they have a record of me complaining.

WTF! I just started getting this noise too on my 2012, 1,500 miles! My RX-8 did the same thing, I replaced the bearing and it went out after about 1k miles also. I can tell you that if it's anything like the RX-8 was then it's going to get louder.

Mines been doing this for a while, primarily during cool/humid morning start ups. Haven't heard it in a while since the weather has been heating up.

As long as its' only on cold or humid mornings and goes away, it's totally normal.

It's always humid in the mornings where I live, so I guess it's going to be a year-round problem for me

Just started having this happen to me on my 2011 WRX. Never had it happen last year when it was colder but this year it makes a noise whenever clutch is depressed. Does go away after 5 mins or so. I park in garage so not super cold or anything.

Are there any signs I should look out for that would indicate it is getting worse and needs replacing? And I assume this would be covered by warranty if it does? I haven't done any mods so wondering why this has just started this year.

Its the throw out bearing. Its been happening to me periodically for three years. I wouldn't worry about it.

It's covered by warranty. I took into the dealership and it took me a couple tries to replicate it but after they heard it, it was fixed.

Transmission dropped and replaced the bearings. NO MORE WEIRD NOISE!!! Clutch felt better too.. but maybe it was just the ECU reset they did

As already stated it's pretty normal.

If the TOB starts to overpower the exhaust note (Grinding Noise, Squealing, Banging), then it's time to worry

These cars seem to do this, and it makes a little noise, but I don't know of anyone that actually had any significant failure because of it. A lot of people have it replaced, and then the noise comes back after a few weeks, and other people have lived with it for years.

Mine does it on start up as well, but as long as the clutch pedal feels good and my clutch is biting like it should, I'm not going to worry about it.

I started to notice it in my '11 STI in the morning. Figured it was due to the cold weather since if goes away as the car warns up. Good to know.

mine would make noise all the time with the clutch engaged. i ignored it for about 1.5-2 years.(i had no money at the time) I had it replaced along with clutch. he showed me it after he got it out. it felt real rocky. just a matter of time before ya gotta change it. id image it would be pretty bad if it failed.

My wrx made this noise but it was when letting off the clutch in reverse or 1st. Turns out my pilot bearing seized and the tip of the trans shaft was spinning inside the bearing.
