The red RAs look great, but I'm sure they'd attract the haters.

Best thing to do is do what you want, I say do it, just cause someone doesnt like them, doesnt mean there not awesome. But thats just car culture in general.if someone likes em, cool. If someone hates em, cool.

Has anyone tried the Rally Armor universal mud guards? They're a lot cheaper than the custom fit ones for my 2012 WRX. I understand I'd have to drill my own mounting holes and find hardware but I'm pretty handy. Are they shaped the same as the model-specific ones?

I recently did this on my '12 hatch and the install was pretty simple. Lowes had the screw rivet thingamajigs for about $8. I used the paper the flaps were wrapped in to make a template to get the correct shape and holes lined up.

So which model mud flaps did you get? There are like four different models the RA universal:

Basic (do not have logo, $15)
MSpec (really expensive, $195)
Basic Plus (don't think these are urethane, $24)
UR (for cars I think, $99)
UR Plus (for trucks and SUV $127)

I think what I want is the UR Universals. Better than paying $169 for the model-specific ones. But there appears to be a lot more hardware included with the model-specific ones than just down screws. There are some steel brackets of some kind.

I bought the basics with red logo. You can barely make out the logo in my crappy cell phone pic. Up front, I drilled four holes and the flaps are secured pretty well.

The brackets allow you to mount the front flaps without drilling holes. I think you can download the installation instructions from their website and take a look.

Nevermind I didn't like the screws they supply (#10), I bought some #8 screws with flush washers, $1.99 for 8. I didn't want to be flashy, just something effective and subtle.

$4.99 special!

All in all, I'm tickled with the look. With only 4k miles on the WRX, there's already knicks on the paint just behind the tires. At least this will prevent any further damage.
Thanks a lot for posting this, it's exactly what I needed for my '13 hatch! Cheap, simple, subtle, readily available.

Figure I'd toss in my flaps. Sparco Universals. Good size for those who take the car out for rally-x/rally.

Could I see how you have them mounted on the inside? I am thinking of buying a set.

Installed the polyurethane or whatever RA mudflaps on my 06 sti. Easy install, most difficult part was removing the existing plastic plugs/inserts. Would post pics but cant on my iphone?

I just took off my flapatax and the hardware seized in place - resulting in ripping out my mounting holes for my rear right wheel well. The bolt was rotating, but so was the threaded bracket .

I've seen a few too many horror posts of fenders buckling from ground impact with flapatax + low ride height.

I'm more optimistic a out these RAs.

Our flaps are ride height adjustable and feature two sets of mounting holes which let you raise or lower the flaps by about 30mm.
They are 4mm thick polyurethane, have 1.5mm thick powdercoated aluminum brackets, stainless steel mounting hardware and the price includes express shipping WORLDWIDE!
We're pretty confident these are the the best flaps on the market by far, only ones that come close on quality and features are the Prodrive ones.

They are also fully motorsport compliant, many governing bodies for example the MSA now require a 4mm mudflap.

for GC/GF/GM
http://www.rally-tech.com/poly_flaps_gc.html

for GD/GG
http://www.rally-tech.com/poly_flaps_gd.html

for 08+, coming in about two weeks!
