Stromung.

If you want something quieter than that and are a bit handy try finding an Sti one or spt.
OR if you really wanted to save some cash and do even more work, buy a wrx catback, make the flange work/make an adapter, and open up the muffler itself and remove some of the stuff in there and weld it back up.

But really just get a Stromung.

Hey guys, what would you recommend for headers? I'm looking at Tsudo or OBX. I have an '03 rs with a custom catback. I want the rumble.

Also, should I go catless or not? I want the extra power(?) and extra sound from the non cat. But would a high flow cat be good as well? I'm leaning more towards catless because its cheaper as well.

Hi guys, I am a noob with a new to me 2002 Outback Sport Wagon (1st Subaru!) I've owned fully custom minis and fullsize trucks, a custom honda, and 2 lifted F150's.

Tried searching and found it a bit overwhelming on intakes and exhaust. Not looking to much on this car but any suggestions on;

1) CAI or SRI for the NA car. Hoping to find something used
2) Cat back exhaust suggestions.

Its the family car, but I cant resist to make a couple of mods or maybe just a bit more noise.

Thanks in advance and look forward to some info.

2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS.
4EAT
Stock Exhaust
Custom Intake - Vibrant Performance Open Funnel Filter

Likes: Engine sounds "peppier" and seems to rev smoother. If driven normal it still sounds stock. Heavier throttle definitely brings out an almost throaty (for a flat 4) low tone in the intake. Improved throttle response at highway speeds as well as at stop signs.

Dislikes: Mid range RPMs seem to be sluggish at times.

Note: I did not reset ECU after installing this mod, so it took several days for the car to relearn what to do with the less restrictive air flow.

Right along the lines of what I was looking for on my '02 Impreza Outback Sport. Which sensor does the intake use? MAF or MAP? I know you just installed it, but looking forward to eharing how it is working and how the install was? Thanks

Hey fellas, I have an 02 RS and my cat is shot. Went on CL and found 05 STI turbo back exaust. Will this fit if I keep my exhaust manifolds and use the STI exhaust from there back? Already tried to do some research and it seems from what I've found is it will fit from atleast the cat back with some small modifications. Thanks guys

If your cat is shot, then you'll have to get a new cat section that's specific for your model. The WRX/STi uses a different setup due to them being turbocharged.

You can buy the STi turboback exhaust from Craigslist and use only the midpipe and axleback (muffler) portion. Everything before the midpipe is useless since our cars aren't turbocharged. Only thing that will need to be modified is that either the midpipe or axleback must be lengthened a bit. Any muffler shop can do this for you.

The 2002 Impreza RS does not have a MAF sensor, only a MAP. This makes it easy to modify the air intake system!

Install was a breeze, ordered a 2.75" to 2.5" 90 degree silicone reducer and 2.5" silicone coupler to attach to the 2.5" tubing I bought from a friend. We used 1/2" brass barb fittings to tap into the factory PCV and tee'd the breather lines and ran them into my 2.5" intake tube. Went to the local hardware store's plumbing dept. for all the brass fittings and bracket to hang the intake (which is attached to the factory mount).

I did not reset the ECU so the car is still learning what to do with all the extra air coming in. There is a lot of intake noise on hard throttle, but if you drive normally the car still sounds stock. I also might add that throttle feels more responsive at highway speeds.
