I am new to this open source tuning thing. I just bought my tactrix 2.0 cable last week and have been researching whenever i have time.
I have been coming across this bricking of the ecu if the tactrix goes out in the middle of a flash and im wondering if i should worry about this.

Whenever i plug my obd2 code scanner in, i always have to wiggle it and keep my knee on it so it stays plugged in. Would this mean that my port is bad and i should get a new one before i flash my ecu?

If your OBD2 port is screwed up I have one that is good if you wanna lable all the wires and swap it in.

You'll only brick the ECU if you turn the key off before getting a successful flash. You can flash, fail, flash, fail, flash again, fail, go inside, have a snack and a 6-pack, come back out 2 hours later, flash, fail, flash, success - and as long as you don't turn off the key anywhere between the first fail and the final success, you're fine.

I've only had a flash fail once (well, one "event", but it was about 10 failed flashes in a row), and it was because my car battery was low. I just left the key on, left the laptop and ECUflash running and attached, hooked up a battery charger to the car, hooked up the laptop charger to the laptop, went inside for a couple of hours, came back out and flashed it again and it was fine.

Just don't turn off the key until you're 100% sure the flash was successful.

So if the tactrix turns off because it lost connection I'm good just as long as my car doesn't shut off?
What will happen if the ecu only gets half of the flash though

Yes you should be fine. And it's just the key shutting off that's the problem, the "car" (meaning the engine) is going to be off this entire time anyway.

As long as you don't turn the key off, the ECU stays in flash mode, so you just flash it again until it goes through successfully.

Now I would still fix the OBD port to be on the safe side, because this isn't something you want to mess around with more than necessary, I just wanted to make you aware that if the flash fails because there was an interruption part way through, usually you can just flash it again and be just fine, as long as you leave the key on.
