Default Morettes

Got my Morette replicas in the mail today!I decided to dip the center portion of the lights! Can't wait to mount these!
Hopefully I'll figure out how to retrofit some projectors into these.

Replicas? Nice, if ya don't mind me asking what'd u pay? I've had my real ones for about 3 years n I don't think anyone was doing that at the time(that I noticed). They are a little different but I kinda like them like that. Its more like it has the stock pieces that go between the headlight n grill

Finally did my HID retrofit today. STi projectors (thanks minifreak), TSX-R clear lenses, Matsushiita ballasts, Phillips bulbs, TRS relay/harness.

Super easy swap and very happy with the results. All in for just over $250.

Used this thread

Stock H7 halogen projectors

STi HID w/TSX-R clear lenses (not sure why the cutoff seems to curve in the pic, it's actually nice and flat all the way across, maybe the angle. The passenger side seems to be aimed a little high, thought I had it aimed correctly but will tweak it tomorrow.

It's definitely way better than stock. The pics actually make my stock lights look better than they are, the white balance makes them look brighter and less yellow. The nice purple flicker at the top of my cutoff with the HIDs doesn't show up in the pics either.

Sniperz just a heads up, for our cars I had to buy the relay harness from TRS because I was blowing the headlight fuse but apparently 08+ is plug and play. I also bypassed the DRL resistor, not sure if I needed to with the relay harness but I had already done it before I figured out I needed the wiring harness.

yeah it's easy, I've done it a couple of times. Getting the lights in and out of the car is the biggest PITA of the entire projecect. Just go slow and use this thread I leave mine in the oven for 20-30 mins. They come apart easy but be careful not to get any of the sealant on your reflector or headlight lens, it can get stringy like melted mozzarella cheese when it's warm. You don't need to remove all of the bulbs and wiring. I only remove my hi/lo beam bulbs and leave everything else in.

If you paint your inner housings use very thin coats and give ample time for the paint to dry, the fumes can mess up your headlight lens. I f'd up one of my lenses and had to spend a lot of time polishing it to fix it.

If I paint them again, I would maybe heat the painted portion of the housing by itself in the oven for 20 mins before reassembling it.

Put the lights loosely back together and heat again in the oven then push everything tightly back together while it's still hot and reinstall the 5 screws. I've never had any moisture issues.

I didn't paint the orange reflector because I want my lights legal and safe. If you paint it, you lose your corner lighting and IMO you should add the jdm side markers like semaj did.

I hooked up the wiring harness ahead of time and tested and tuned the HID projectors (adding washers) so that everything was ready since my car is my DD and I couldn't run to the store once my lights were out of the car.

EDIT: Oh yeah be very careful if you clean the inside of the lens. It has an antiglare/antifog coating on it that hates windex and other cleaners. use a damp cloth only.

It is days like these that I truly appreciate the OEM leather shift knob. I guess the aluminum nub will forever stay in the storage bin now

Forester Getting Horned Up

Put some Supertones in the new Fozzie yesterday as the stock one are just to wimpy. Also swapped the JDM headlights and corners back in. The worst part is now I need to go to the dealer and get a bunch of grill and trim clips. I can't seem to ever pull the grill off without snapping a few.
