The bmw club also has an event on Saturday at Mineral Wells for those of you who can't make ER on Sunday at the Dallas Raceway in Crandall.

BMW requires online preregistration and payment (ER still does walk up registration and payment).

I think I might join this one as my first autocross EVARR. Although I cant find a definitive answer in the info on the cost.

Getting married Sunday. Can't make it

Last Sunday was a blast though. Even though the TL is fwd and was an auto with some Bavarius tires, it managed to beat GT and GNX that was in ESP. I registered for novice pax and came in 5th out of 30. I highly doubt my car is competitive and don't know if I can register in a lesser class with coilovers, 3.2L displacement, headers and intake. My cone trophy is a new addition to my dash

I think we would be in different classes. Since I have bigger rotors it appears I would be in street modified.

Those rules are from 2007, they are out of date.

According to rules 14.3 as of March 2013:

Street Touring allows for any ferrous (non ceramic) brakes as long as they are at least as big as the oem brakes. You can put bigger brakes and they can be slotted, drilled, or both (as long as the voids are less than 10% of the surface, which means any slotted and/or drilled rotors)

Evan, just sign up for STU, I'm sure it would be fine. I should probably be in a street prepared class because of my wider tires and stage 1+AEM AP.

I think for a first time with this group it shouldn't be a big deal. Just don't sign up for a class that you know you will kick everyone's ass lol.

Bslate you're correct on your car being bumped out of STU. Just based on the tires and that you'll be running higher then stock boost. You'll get some people that'll get really ticked off at you for running in that class but depends on the club. When you sign in tomorrow I would mention that you are still a beginner and wasn't sure on the classing to sign up for. That way you the club rep could make a Decision to keep you in that class or not. My two cents, I know that I wouldn't complain about it unless you are being my times.

Yeah I mainly signed up for STU because 14stu is signed up in that class, and it's fun to have some competition with other subarus.

If I get bumped out of STU, I won't be mad. Chances are, I'm going to have fun regardless the class I'm in.

ER does provide cash prizes for pax performance, so you might get a closer inspection and adherence to the rules than other clubs. I will be in STU and I will not protest you.

Brakes can be upgraded in STU, just cannot be downsized (just to reiterate).

Jim Harris should be there in his EVO X, he was supposed to get some badass coilovers installed so he should be tough to beat.

I think he was going with the ohlins, Jim doesn't skimp. He only kept his last car (FRS) for about 6 months and he has had this one since December though, so he could show up with something new anytime now (he seems to really like the EVO though but I still like giving him a hard time).

Is there an updated class worksheet for ER somewhere?

Yeah Jim Harris' car was killing it. He just had the Ohlins coilovers put on and was still playing with his setup at the last NTAXS event. I wonder if he will be in STU or something else???

Evan just sign up for STU, if they move you, oh well. Practice makes perfect.

I'm going to try the middle setting on my rear Whiteline swaybar. I have had on full stiff for the past 2 autocrosses and I felt like it had just bit too much rotation especially in the slaloms.

ER uses the SCCA classes which can be found here:
http://www.scca.com/solo/content.cfm?cid=44517

WRX's start in D-stock, and any upgrades will move 2009+ to STU and earlier models to STX. From there you can move to street prepared or street modified depending on upgrades.

STU allows up to 245 section width tires of at least 140 tread wearer with any suspension, brakes, and sway bars. Intake and exhaust can be upgraded before the intake manifold and after the exhaust manifold respectively.

Tuning is allowed bit you cannot directly change the boost (if a mod alters it then boost can change but you are not supposed to directly change boost).

The Equipe Rapide event for Sunday has been moved to Mesquite Memorial stadium due to the drag races continuing into Sunday.

They just sent out an email to the folks who registered online. I bet alot of people will show up to Crandall and be confused as hell. I hope they have someone or at least a message there to redirect everyone.

Yeah I just saw this. I've never been to mesquite memorial stadium. Has anybody been there before? How's the surface and size of the place?

bslate, I'll have to introduce myself next time. I was in the 04 silver wrx. I thought that was a pretty nice event yesterday considering the short notice of the location change. I am looking forward to driving at Crandall though, that parking lot in Mesquite might as well be covered with ice it is so slippery.

Oh ok I remember seeing you out there. Yeah the surface there was pretty crappy. It was still a lot of fun though. The ER guys are really nice and everything is set up pretty professional looking too.

Saturday may 25th at the TMS bus lot is NTAXS #3. Anybody plan on going?

There is also an SCCA event at the TMS bus lot on the 19 I believe, I won't be able to make this one though.

I am signed up for the SCCA event next weekend and I plan signing up for the NTAXS, but only if my visiting buddy from Houston wants to go.

Brandon came from behind to beat me on his very last run with a beautiful piece of driving so I am itching for a rematch.

Thanks Sam! It was some fun competition.

I see Jim Harris is signed up with his Evo X too, I wonder what extra toys he has on it now.
