I have an idea... Why not someone come up with saying, I have a XXX sti. (base hp model) and say what should add XXX more?? Unless I'm not understanding the entire post of talking about dyno'ing your car on different dyno's and getting different results from the same year make and model with the same mods and coming up with dramatic differences...

If there's a sticky on this and I missed it, my bad; but this seemed the logical place to go.

Need some input on a turbo upgrade in the future.
I have an 07 WRX and currently have a VF34 with supporting mods. Road dyno after the tune showed it's putting out 280whp.
What I'm after:

-I'm hoping to achieve somewhere in the realm of 340-360 whp.
-I'd prefer to stay away from having to go to front mount.
-The quicker it spools, the better. I'm willing to sacrifice top end for spool.

I'll answer more questions if there's any. Thanks!

Look at 45lb/min-55lb/min turbos. Those should get you to your goal. The larger the turbo the easier it will be. Particularly on pump gas. A good fmic is going to help quite a bit with heat soak.

Will be getting tuned at TurboXS in Gaithersburg, MD.
Will be getting tuned on 93 octane.
Will be getting tuned on a Dynapack dyno.

I am hoping for 350whp, does that seem like an achievable goal?
Yes, I have a 02 Wrx that I'm soon getting rid of for a 08 Sti, I was going to buy a 16g xt, tial 38mm ewg, and an ebcs. I also have 750cc injectors, 255 pump, spt intake, sti top mount, hks bov, catless uppipe, along with catless turboback.. My tuner said I would make 300whp maybe a little more on a mustang dyno on 93 octane. The fuel setup, uppipe are in the garage, ready to go along with whoever buys my car when it's up for sale. I'm currently Cobb stage 2

Default Horse Power

I'm a new guy and not trying to come off the wrong way but everyone talks in "horse power", Isn't it torque that wins races?

Good Information here, thought it was an easy 1,2,3 to make 400WHP but i was wrong, had most of the same mods a friend of mine had that made 400WHP and i made 30WHP less. The same recipe can give you different results for sure.

My 2004 STi:
Cobb Short Ram
GTSpec Equal Lengths
GTSpec Up-Pipe
Tsuedo Catless Down Pipe
Blitz NUR-Spec Catback
Topped injectors at 325 whp on a Mustang Dyno at Innovative in Buffalo, NY.
Brought down to 306 wheel and tapers to 6psi at 4800 RPMs due to lack of injectors.

My Brothers 2005 STi on the same dyno topped at 350 whp and brought down to 344 whp as a street tune. His mods
Cobb Short Ram
Agency Power Turbo-back

Both cars are rebuilt engines completely stock other than mods listed above and have 5k miles on each engine. Also they're both Pro-Tuned at Innovative

Do u guys know a rough estimate a 02 Wrx with 750cc injectors, walbro 255, catless turboback, catless uppipe, either uel/el (not sure), spt intake, tial 38mm ewg, fmic, 6 speed tranny swap, 18g, ebcs, hks bov, stage 2 clutch- would make on a mustang dyno? I hear around mid 300whp. I just need to Do the Tranny swap this summer (hopefully July), buy the turbo, ewg, and ebcs. That's all and I'm good to go with a protune

I have a 2005 sti. Engine wise, it has custom headers, cobb exhaust, cobb intake and is on a tune. The person i bought it from told me it was making 300whp. Im not sure where it was dyno'd but it was somewhere in cali, nor do i know if 300whp is entirely true.

For now I'm going to keep it how it is, this is my first performance car and i think i have plenty of power on tap as is. (I'd have plenty of power even in a bone stock one).

But as time comes i would like to someday make 335-350whp max. I live in Phx/scottsdale AZ and Im most likely going to have my work done at either Dynocomp or Forced Air Technologies (FAT).

Id prefer to keep a TMIC and the stock turbo if possible. But if absolutely necessary I would be willing to go FMIC and upgrade the turbo, although it would break my heart. :/ don't ask why haha

Ive been told by a few people that if i run e85 i could make a good 50hp more, I'm not sure how true that is and the other problem is that i only know of 2 gas stations in my area that offer e85. (I'm sure there may be a few more). And I've also read mixed reviews about e85 and differing opinions in articles.

Because i already have headers, exhaust, intake, and tune I'm not really sure which direction i should take a step into next to reach my 335-350whp goals. Any suggestions?

Samco turbo inlet
TurboXS Shorty intake
APS 650 FMIC

Car will be street tuned.

I plan on putting the car on a Dynapack just to see what kind of numbers I will make.

What would seem achievable with this setup?

1. HP at the WHEELS: ~300-325

2. What type of dyno: See #3

3. If possible, tell us what shop it is: BrenTuning most likely

4. Where do you live? Shirley, MA 279 ft (85 m)

5. What kind of gas will you be using? 93

6. Are you opposed to a FMIC: Not opposed if it's going to make that big of a difference, but would prefer to stay with a top mount for now.

I have a 2005 subaru sti, i just bought it a few weeks ago. My current engine mods are custom headers, cobb intake, cobb exhaust, and a tune. I was told it made 300 to the wheels and it was dyno'ed in OC, california. I live in scottsdale/phx,AZ.

Considering i already have headers, exhaust, intake, and tune, I'm not quite sure which mods i should do next.

This is my first subaru and my first performance car so as of right now I have plenty of power. So I'm in no hurry to start doing any engine mods yet. But eventually I would like to make between 335-350whp. I would like to keep the stock turbo in as well as stick with a top mount intercooler. But if its absolutely necessary to switch to either a bigger turbo or FMIC or both in order to reach my desired numbers I will.

Thanks for the help,
-Austin

i have a 13 impreza sti only mod is the factory catback and STS

what im looking for is...
1.HP at wheels 300-350
2. unknown (sorry none close by still looking)
3. same... sorry again
4. Springfield, Illinois 586 ft
5. gas 93 octane
6. opposed, no but if i can stay with top mount preferred. If i cant reach goal without changing ill do it

but pretty much im looking to wipe the smile off the local Z clubs faces as they are larger here (and my best friend has a 350z so destroying his buddies will be all the sweeter)

You want bpu I'm not familiar with these cars but I can steer you in the right direction. To start you are close to making 300 awhp if you put a Aggressive tune on. But if you want to do it right. Get bigger injectors, new spark plugs, fuel pump, tbe (turbo back exhaust), test pipe, cold air intake, and tune. There is a lot more you can do to make bigger hp that should put you in over your goal Mark. Just know that HP is like chips you always want more. How it helps other guys here and steer you to what posts work best for these cars.

I just put my 2004 STi on the dyno this week, it wouldnt fully boost and made 290 at 15 psi. Not too shabby. My turbo is set at 17 pounds btw.

I am new to performing modifications on my car and I would love some advice. I currently have an '04 baja turbo 5MT. I plan on getting a catless down pipe, and STI turbo and intercooler. With these additions plus a pro tune does anyone know around how much horsepower I would have, and would my transmission be able to handle all that power? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

You'll also want a little more fuel with that turbo. A Walbro 255lph fuel pump and some Deatschwerks 650cc/min injectors would do you well. As for the transmission...just take it easy and you probably wont have any problems.

I have a '13 STI sedan.....Here's what I'd like to hit below...

1. HP at the WHEELS (whp) or hp at the CRANK (chp)?

350 to 380whp

2. What type of dyno are you going to be shooting for this number on?

Mustang

3. If possible, tell us what shop it is. Someone may know how high or low that particular dyno reads.

No idea...Someone tell me a good shop on the west coast of FL.

4. Where do you live? If not a well known city, what is the elevation?

Clearwater, FL...sea level...

5. What kind of gas will you be using? (octane level)

93 only

6. Are you opposed to a FMIC? (this way we dont recommend one if you dont want it, or we DO recommend it if you DO want it and it would be beneficial to your setup/goals) (sp?)

I'd run FMIC if need be.....
