That was crazy! Just think if that would have happened around turn 3!

Loving the pictures of all the team upgrades. Great work.

FWIW, I'm stealing pics from Twitter mostly. I don't take credit for any of them this week.

Interesting, also wonder what's up with the things (another camera?) sticking out from the intake/ roll hoop that are obviously not symmetrical either.

^^ You are correct. All the data from the pitot tubes gets sent back to the sensor package on the side of the endplate. In regards to the sensor on the side of the roll hoop/airbox inlet, it's a thermal camera pointed at the rear tire to see what is going on with the tires. New hard compound introduced this weekend, so teams are trying to get on top of it.

I've analyzed some more changes to the RBR since Bahrain. Changes are shown in blue and suggest a lower overall downforce package compared to Bahrain, as well as accommodations for lower air temps.

1. There's 5 slots in the endplate now, versus 3 at the prior race.

2. The extra notch at the rear of the engine cover is gone, likely due to the lower air temps in Catalunya.

3. The extra squared-off vents near the front of the sidepods are reduced to small oval structures, likely for the same reason as #2.

4. The beam wing is much shallower.

5. The tiny notch in the DRS portion of the rear wing is now evident, whereas in Bahrain it was nearly a straight line.

Live timing indicates a threat of rain later today. Wet Quali?

Top 3 drivers currently less than .1 seconds apart after their first run on hard tires!

Perez lost either a barge board or the under-nose turning vane on the left side.

Edit: now the live timing is saying it was a brake duct.

This is the fifth race of the season, and all drivers who haven't retired at a prior race will be on their last race for this gearbox.

Hamilton fastest in Q2 by SIX TENTHS?! How does that work?

I believe that's a lap record since this track adopted the chicane a few years ago. Kimi had held the record of a 1:21.670 since '08. Hammi did a 1:21.001.

Both Mercedes will probably suffer from tire degration.
So Vettel, Raikkonen or Alonso will win.

This. I fully expect Vettel to push the Mercs like crazy at the start and perform a repeat of Bahrain.
