Default How do you get your car to a tuner?

So after accumulating some parts over the last month I am ready to start my build. Im running stage 2 on the cobb accessport right now but here is what im adding..

STi intercooler, vf39, 2007 wrx injectors, injen cold air intake, and a walbro 255 fuel pump

I am experienced enough to put all of these parts on my car myself so I DO NOT want to pay shop labor. I don't want to drive to Outback Automotive (12 miles from my house) after putting on all those mods. I have already been through the process of swapping motors due to a rod knock. Not looking for any high stress on pistons and wrong fuel ratios etc.

This is where I'm stuck.. I've heard you can have a friend with Triple A get a free tow for you, but I haven't had luck finding anyone. And I've even asked shops if I could do it in their parking lot lol but no luck. Anyone in the area that has a car trailer? More than happy to compensate!

Pay the $70 for AAA for yourself
Pay $100-200 for a tow
Drive super easy
Have the shop send you a safe drivable tune to get you there.

Depending on insurance they may cover tows as well. I was reimbursed when I needed a tow to my shop.

With those mods, just stay out of boost and you'll be fine. If you're really worried about it, have Outback send you a tune ahead of time.

You could always go back to the stock map, correct?

All of those mods after some simple idle ecu relearning you can drive to your destination. Just do not get into open loop mode when flooring it or building boost.

If you are tuning with the access port you can get a base map from your tuner as well, I know mike at PIA has sent me one in the past for the drive to the shop.

+1. Tuner should be able to provide a base map

Do shops charge for a base map? Is it just like a general/basic tune for the part list that gets emailed to me?

call this number and ask all your questions: (253) 236-8044

You'll have answers much faster, and they will be substantially more accurate.

What others have said, waste-gate boost map from tuner. I drove 150 miles to surge line with similar mod changes and had no issues.
