Default What's the best aftermarket headunit for the 12+ WRX's?

I was looking at the Pioneer AVIC-X940BT and that was the only one I was able to find that looked like it had the best features. Are there any other recommended head units? If it matters, I have a Galaxy S3, since I know a lot of head units nowadays are iPod/iPhone specific. Also, are there any head units that are FULLY compatible with the WRX's? Meaning that the BT mic works, the buttons on the steering wheels all work, etc.

No. Even with aftermarket SWC converters, compatibility is not 100% functional across all HU functions.

Nothing works with the factory BT mic without a custom adapter.

The only possible option for Pioneer SWC compatibility is to source the PAC unit used in some Canadian models to maintain 100% SWC function with Pioneer units. The mic will still be incompatible.

Many Clarions have 100% SWC functionality with the Metra ASWC but the mic is not compatible.

Aside from steering wheel controls.... what do you consider "best features"?

If you have a Samsung / Android phone Pioneer is now releasing HU's that are compatible with bluetooth streaming, but other HU manufacturers have been doing this for a while.

Are you more concerned with sound quality, or a big fancy touch screen and navigation.... there's a lot that goes into picking a HU. I couldn't say any one unit is the supreme being of all car stereos. Even if there was 1.... in less than 12 months there will be an even better one.

Amazon.com: Pioneer FH-X700BT In-Dash Double DIN CD/MP3/USB Car Stereo Receiver w/ Bluetooth, Pandora Link, MIXTRAX & iPod Support: ElectronicsAmazon.com: Pioneer FH-X700BT In-Dash Double DIN CD/MP3/USB Car Stereo Receiver w/ Bluetooth, Pandora Link, MIXTRAX & iPod Support: Electronics

I just had this installed and I'm very happy with it. It's really inexpensive, looks great, and works very well. I wasn't interested in a laggy touch screen at all - I just wanted a something to act as a bluetooth slave to my phone for calls and streaming spotify. It does both seamlessly. Cost me $130, $90 for the install, and makes the stock speaker system sound a lot better to boot.

I've got the Pioneer AVH-X2500BT. I have an iPhone but i just checked and it is compatible with Android phones through a USB cable (not included). I think you can also use some of the apps on your phone through the display of the headunit. I also really like the clarity of the headunit's screen. It looks like it could come straight from Subaru.

I retained steering wheel controls with the Axxess ASWC kit. Sometimes the headunit doesn't respond immediately after pressing a button but overall it works really well.

Sound quality should be good enough on whatever head unit I choose, I'm definitely more into the features (GPS, Bluetooth Audio Streaming, BT Calling, etc.)

The Clarion NX702 looks promising. Has all the features- BT, Nav, DVD, touch, etc and has the ability to run a 6 channel active set up. That means if you installed a couple of amps, you could have tweeters on 2 channels, mids on 2 channels, and midbass or subs on 2 channels, all time aligned with the crossovers controlled on the headunit. That might be a little much for a lot of people though.

I had the AVIC 940bt and it was awesome. GO for it. You won't be disappointed.

Aside from Navigation, do you know the difference between the AVIC and the AVH?
