^It has nothing to do with 19's. They are fine. My 18's with tires sticks out more than your setup will and I have a minor roll in the rear. I'm lowered on bilsteins and blacks. How much fender adjusting you need will depend on your camber settings, stiffness and height.

Also what tire size do you recommend? I was thinking about ordering a set of DWs in 255/35/18
Depending on the specific tire you select you might need a slight roll in the rear

If you do not own an STi, you will need adapters to run those. They are 5x114.3.

Maybe a 245/40? Or just stick with the factory 235/45's.

The PSS runs wider per spec and the shoulder is more square. I've also had the PS2 and that is the same. So, keeping that in mind i'd do stock size or 255/40R17.

245/40 would be the widest I would go on an 8" wheel. If its a wider fitting tire like a Z2 or RSR, I'd be getting a 235/40.

I wouldn't anticipate having fitment issues with either of these offsets on my stock suspension, but can anyone provide a recommendation from an aesthetic/performance standpoint?

Thanks.
Star specs run wide, so I would personally run a 9 inch wheel with 245's, but that is purely preference.

As for fitment, I just mounted up some BFGoodrich Sport Comp 2's in 245/40/17, on 17x9 +35 RPF1's. These tires run wide, and are very square like the Star Specs.

So far after about 100 miles I have no rubbing, and my fenders are not rolled (also stock suspension). To be honest, after I mounted them I thought I would have to roll based on how far they stuck out .. but I think the smaller overall diameter is what saved me. I think if I was lowered at all I would need to roll the rears though.

Regarding aesthetics .. that is all preference really. The +35's look about the same as Delphi's car in post #1918 (the WRB with white wheels).

fyi: the Michelin PSS does not come in a 255/40/17, only 245/40/17. And the 245/40/17 PSS is a slightly narrow 245. I've seen it on 17x9 and it looks too small (sidewalls where not square, they were rounded). According to TireRack, the tread width is 8.5" vs the Dunlop Z2 9.2" I'm not saying its a tiny-ass tire, but it certainly doesn't run wide (PSS in other sizes might).

I had seen much wider tires on 8" wheels for autocross so I figured I would be ok. I'm not sure going 9" would gain me much in pure autox performance, but we will see. Obviously my stockers are 17x8 and the stock dunlops are 235 so I'm not sure I will notice a dramatic difference in feel while on the course (other than grip).

I went with the +47. I can throw some pictures up here once I get them mounted for reference. The aesthetic comment I made was sort of silly--I'm not really concerned about that since these won't see any daily driving duty.

Thanks.

This question is not topical to this thread. You've asked this question in another thread. Please refrain from discussing topics other than WHEEL FITMENT in this thread. It's a long-enough read as it is.

225/40R18. You really want to go with a narrower wheel and tire than stock?

When you guys talk about some tires running wider than others, should we use tread width to compare? What is generally considered to run wider than most others? PSS?

Pss is typically either right on, or slightly narrower depending on size.

You want to find the ACTUAL section width measurements. You can typically find these on tire manufacturers websites.

so to keep performance and the look i want it'd probably be best to powder coat the stock wheels and get 245/40/17 PSS tires instead of the GT1 which go down to 225

I see a lot of people recommending the 235/40r17 245/40r17 and 255/40r17 for the WRX's (5-speed). Do the high revs at highway speeds (75 mph) not bother any of you? Or are these your track/auto-x only setups? I have 255/40r17's and I want to go taller to reduce the rpms a bit. Going approximately 75mph in 5th gear leaves RPM's around 3k. Seems high to me

Not sure why a 40series tire would be recommended when our car comes with 45's. I could see if you were going super low, or if your increasing your wheel diameter. Other than that, I would stay with a 235/45 unless your going to a 9"+ wide wheel. If my math is right.
