Depends on your boost needs, since boost is a bit more linear you can actually run bit more boost than required for turbo. I'm pushing 9 psi on a centrifugal and since my Boost Controller is my right foot depends on when or how high you take your RPM's, i like to shift at 6k whe ndriving spirited. Internals not so much but do realize one day you will have to do this.

Though all other requirements to go from N/A to FI like bigger injectors, fuel pump , colder plugs etc. will have to be addressed

Sorry guys, I havent touched the car in a couple of weeks, the front end went out of my toyota, so I straight axle swapped it, and have been spending most of my free time finishing that up. I should finally get to my car this weekend though

I just finished piecing together a kit and boosting my 2.5i. I'm actually going in for a tune today.
I say go for it. Do your homework and play it safe for longevity, but its a fun process and is worth it in the end!

ok guys, i have a couple of questions for anyone that has experience using a lathe.
(this is so i can machine down the s14 hubs to fit the subaru wheelbearings)

my plan is to remove the wheelstuds on my hubs, and then bolt them together face to face, using the holes where the studs were, like how i am showing in this pic.

that way i can chuck up one of the hubs and lathe off the extra material on the side that is bolted to it, and flip it around to do the other side...

does anyone see a problem with this idea? or have a better idea?

and my other question is what bit do i use? and how fast should i have it spinning?

this is my first time using a lathe, so i am pretty clueless on what the best methods are.

Nice work man, did you get any quotes at any shops on how much it would be to have them machined or did you already have the lathe laying around and decide to do it yourself?

we already had the lathe laying around, so i never checked to see what it would have cost to have someone else do it. it took for ever to shave all of that material off though.

I went to test fit one side, to make sure everything was going to line up correctly, and I broke the inner race trying to press it onto the hub and to top it all off I cant find a place that sells the races separate from the wheelbearings

I think pretty much any metal lathe will work, as long as you can get the hub to chuck up, and I'm not sure what bit it is, it was just the bit that happened to be on the lathe when I tried it lol

hell no, it took forever lol, i think part of it was due to the belts on the lathe being 50 years old though

here is a pic of the nissan hub mounted into the subaru spindle, and bolted onto the car... not the greatest picture, but i guess its better than nothing

nice! so did you buy new or used hubs, and how much you remove off the hub?

pretty cool the subarus have the same 12x1.25 thread pitch on the studs as nissans do haha.

I bought some used hubs, I'm pretty sure it was 5mm that I had to romove for the races to fit, and then I had to remove a **** ton of material to give the seal a place to sit

How much would you charge to do the machining if I shipped you a pair of hubs?
